Few florals make me feel like I’m truly breathing in the flowers. With others, I cross my fingers that they won’t be too strong, too animalic, or too sweet, but this one is like pressing your nose into a freshly cut carnation: a marvel. It takes a moment to take off, but once it does, it’s pure carnation. If you want something as simple yet complex as smelling like a carnation, give it a try; you’ll fall in love. Over time, the floral softens to reveal a delicious blend of vanilla and plenty of clove, with a bitter cedar note at the base that prevents it from being overly sweet, something I appreciate. Plus, the trail is lovely, even though it’s an eau de toilette. I don’t find it heavy, vintage, overly elegant, or too spring-like; you wear it whenever you fancy and it won’t clash. This house has really surprised me!
