Fresh and soft, perfect for enjoying on spring or summer days. I absolutely loved it and heartily recommend it.
I bought it shortly after its launch with great fear because whenever I buy a chypre I always expect surprises… good or bad. This perfume changed my perception and improved my relationship with this fantastic olfactory family. Now almost 8 years later I’ve received a miniature as a gift and here is my review. It’s a very English simple and noble transparent and clean perfume. Pear with freesia in the opening and melon with patchouli in the dry-down simple not much more. The melon note seemed quite synthetic to me. And yet it hypnotises you attracts you although not for long because it disappears without a trace – at least from my skin – after about two hours. This perfume is like a caprice or an expensive toy that breaks quickly: a charm that lasts little. Well Jo Malone presents it as a cologne not an EDP… but even so although the projection is good the longevity is minimal. 30 ml/£53 100 ml/£106 I recommend you get a miniature before buying the full bottle.
I picked it up shortly after leaving with a sense of trepidation, as I always expect surprises with cypresses. This fragrance changed my perception of the family and improved my relationship with them. Nearly eight years later, with a miniature gifted to me, I can say it is very British, simple, noble, transparent and clean. Pear and freesia come through first, followed by melon and patchouli; it’s straightforward, nothing more. I found the melon note slightly synthetic, yet it hypnotises and attracts, although not for long as it disappears without a trace from my skin within a couple of hours. It’s like an indulgence or an expensive toy that breaks in a flash: a charming ephemeral delight. Jo Malone sells it as an eau de cologne, not an EDP… and while the projection is good, the longevity is minimal. 30ml for £53, 100ml for £106. I recommend buying a miniature before investing in the full bottle.
One of the sweetest scents from Jo Malone. The sweetness of this perfume comes from its fruits both the melon and the pear which are quite distinct and noticeable. The floral aspect is also noticeable a blend of rose/freesia with an earthy touch of patchouli. As for the rhubarb and amber I don’t perceive them too much. As mentioned below it’s quite an attractive scent and results in being very appealing. It conjures up an image of a pretty blonde English girl with hazel eyes of upper-class very shy who enjoys reading in the library and taking walks. But to be honest it doesn’t have the best longevity in the world although I must admit it’s not one of the worst from Jo Malone as their fragrances usually disappear with a sigh. It lasts approximately 4 hours on the skin; if you want it to last all day you’ll have to reapply. The scent personally I adore it’s very beautiful. For autumn spring and summer. If they improved the potency of this perfume it would be amazing as that’s the only thing it lacks. Without a doubt it’s worth trying.
One of Jo Malone’s sweetest scents. The sweetness comes from the fruits, melon and pear, which are quite distinct. You can also detect the floral aspect, a blend of rose and freesia with an earthy touch of patchouli. I don’t perceive much of the rhubarb or amber. As mentioned below, it’s a very attractive scent and proves quite seductive. It conjures up an image of a blonde English girl with honey-coloured eyes, very pretty and upper-class, shy, enjoying herself in the library or going for a walk. Frankly, it doesn’t have the best longevity in the world, although it’s not one of Jo Malone’s worst; their fragrances tend to vanish with a sigh. It lasts about four hours on the skin; if you want it to last all day, you’ll need to reapply. I adore the scent; it’s very lovely. Suitable for autumn, spring and summer. If they improved the potency, it would be fantastic, as that’s the only thing it lacks. Without a doubt, it’s worth trying.
For the past few days I’ve been able to enjoy this lovely fragrance a gift from a dear friend. Despite having pear and melon I don’t perceive it as sweet except at the right point. For me in the opening it’s strong with a liquorish touch mixed with pear. Fortunately I don’t detect the melon because it’s a note I don’t like; it always gives a perfumes a rotten air. But in this occasion no either they’ve blended it very well or I just don’t notice it. Then the aroma becomes powdery and leaves a scent that reminds me very much of Idylle by Guerlain. It has a good longevity of about 4 hours which is the maximum it usually lasts for me with perfumes and the trail is moderate.
I’ve been enjoying this fragrance for a few days, a gift from a friend. Although it features pear and melon, it doesn’t taste sweet to me, but just right. Upon spraying, it’s quite strong with a boozy pear note; I don’t detect the melon, as it always smells of rot to me, but here it’s well-balanced or perhaps imperceptible. It then shifts to an alcoholic scent leaving a powdery trail, very similar to Guerlain’s Idylle. It lasts about four hours, which is the maximum any perfume manages on my skin, with a moderate sillage.
I bought the 30 ml bottle a few years ago because I loved it when I tried it in the shop but my boyfriend at the time said it smelled like cleaning products and I stopped using it. Recently I returned to this fragrance and I absolutely adore it: it’s elegant (like almost everything Jo Malone does) fresh (I believe this is a daytime fragrance more suitable for spring and summer than winter) and as I’ve read here it reminds me of an upper-class British girl enjoying the English countryside. This is a special fragrance a blend of old-world elegance (rose and patchouli) with a fresh and modern touch (pear). I don’t detect the melon. In general sweet fragrances disgust me but this is not the case: it has the perfect amount of sweetness. I haven’t smelled anything like it and I understand it’s not for everyone as it seems the current trend leans towards fragrances with more intense trails while this has a discreet trail.
In almost all reviews of this cologne (which is not a perfume) people mention the pear and melon scent in the opening. It is true but there was something that reminded me of lemon and since it’s not listed in its olfactory pyramid I imagined it might be rhubarb a plant I’m not familiar with. I searched on Google and it literally says: “In general the rhubarb accord is characterised by a green fruity and aromatic slightly acidic and floral scent.” Well yes that’s what it smells like and it’s fantastic. Besides I can smell it from the very beginning; it’s extremely fresh cheerful and summery. It has a tiny bit at the end that’s almost buttery… I don’t know it’s strange but I like it very much. This little bottle will accompany me throughout the summer.
I adore this scent. I imagine myself on a bicycle with a bouquet of roses in the basket on a sunny day. On me, the rose predominates, but it’s a youthful and elegant rose, nothing dowdy. I’m always asked what I’m wearing when I use it.

I bought it today and owe a review. What I don’t understand is how no one has commented that it’s very similar, almost 80%, to Giorgio Armani’s Si eau de toilette. Certainly, it has similarities with the floral parts of Idylle and Narciso Rodríguez EDP, but nothing more; it doesn’t resemble these as much as it does Armani’s.
I saw it advertised on social media and it piqued my curiosity, so I went to a stand very excited. I decided to test it on skin, after all, one has to see how it reacts with my pH. Inside the store, I brought it close to my nose despite wearing a mask, mmm… it seemed to smell good. Not even 30 minutes had passed and when I left the store, I smelled it again without a mask and it didn’t smell of absolutely anything. That has been my brief love story with this cologne.
I don’t detect the pear on me; what I smell most is the freesia and the patchouli. It doesn’t seem fruity to me; it’s more floral. Perfect for everyday wear, not overwhelming. It’s an alternative floral thanks to the freesia which gives it the spotlight. It smells rich even though it’s not my style.
I was gifted this EDT after testing it in-store and it was love at first sniff, and (as it usually doesn’t happen due to my skin’s pH) the love persisted over time. Citrus and floral fragrances normally don’t last more than half an hour on me, but this remained stoic after two hours, leaving the warmer, sweeter base notes. To me, it smells of pears and freesias soaked under the sun after recent rain. My only con is the price; Jo Malone is expensive and will make me think twice before repurchasing the bottle. For now, I use it only when I need those extra endorphins from the pleasure of smelling it.
Marvelous at first. A delicate scent, just sweet, affected and floral. Longevity and sillage are acceptable. The only drawback is the evolution, which ends up being a bit tiring. It doesn’t fully convince me.
Wonderful at first. A delicate scent, just the right amount of sweet, affected and floral. Longevity and sillage are acceptable. The only drawback is its evolution; it ends up tiring a bit. It doesn’t fully convince me.
A lovely, gentle, luminous, innocent, sweet and green fragrance. It doesn’t last long, but it doesn’t need to; sometimes those that last less shine with double the intensity; if it were more enduring, it would probably cloy more than one. I think it’s for all seasons, genders and ages; you’ll receive many compliments. It’s almost perfect.
I’ll buy it because I saw Chaewon from LE SSERAFIM wearing it 😛
To start, this isn’t the DNA I usually seek. It opens very intensely, fruity-citrusy and quite acidic on my skin. From the outset, the freesia stands out. After half an hour, it becomes sweeter, with that pear note intertwined with a very fresh, powdery rose. The rhubarb is very noticeable, almost all the time, especially in the base with a clean musk. I don’t detect the patchouli or amber. In short, it’s an acidic, green fruity-floral scent. 100% feminine. Fresh and luminous, ideal for daily wear, especially in spring/summer. Projection is moderate at first and lasts about 5-6 hours on skin. As I said, I’m not a fan of this style and this is no exception; it’s not for me. But if you like this type of perfume, in the style of Chloé EDP, you must try it.
To be honest, the ‘pear’ scent doesn’t remind me of the real fruit; it’s more spicy or acidic, a bit like Lancôme’s Idole but less overwhelming. I always recommend trying EDTs: let them macerate for a while to improve their longevity and intensity. I once tried layering it with Jo Malone’s Peony and it was wonderful. It’s quite strong for me, as I can’t stand EDPs much.
What a lovely perfume. They gave me a sample and at first I couldn’t believe it; it reminded me of the scent of a perfume I had in a Barbie doll I owned, called Tropical Splash. I, being a fan of doll scents, adored it. It gave me so much nostalgia and joy to feel that aroma, so I ended up buying it. The truth is the scent is fabulous, very feminine, but I wish it projected a bit stronger.
I love it; one of the best from the house. A distinct and special aroma. It doesn’t last long on my skin, but I enjoy it immensely and I will mix it with others. Excellent perfume.
It is extremely similar to Cartier’s Carat.
I like this perfume a lot, but I love English Pear & Sweet Pea even more, I think because of the dry-down: when this one dries down, it smells of patchouli, whereas the other doesn’t. I think I would wear both perfectly; in fact, it reminds me of Virginia Woolf. Indeed, it recalls her writing in her diary about picking pears, walking through the countryside, sitting by the fireplace with Leonard, writing and reading by the window of her country house. It’s a scent for all seasons and moments, and it always inspires me greatly.
A very good option for summer/spring. It’s not particularly economical, and as you might imagine, it doesn’t last long, but it’s lovely, simple, and has personality. It’s a fresh, fruity delight. There’s a small size so it doesn’t make a big dent in the budget. And for carrying in your bag, it’s very stylish; a scent that brings joy and peace. I, who isn’t usually a fan of fresh scents, would recommend it with a clear conscience. It’s hard not to like it.
To me, it has a super green and earthy opening that doesn’t work for me. It feels floral, and while I adore florals, here it smells more like a room freshener. Yes, it is green, aquatic, fresh, and slightly sweet, but it’s not my style. It gives me the sensation of a herbalist’s shop or a cemetery 😅.
In my perception, it has a super green and earthy opening that I don’t like. It feels quite floral and I love florals, but here it feels more like a room freshener. It is true that it smells green, aquatic, fresh, and slightly sweet, but simply it’s not my type. It gives me a sensation of a herbalist’s shop or a cemetery 😅.
For those from Argentina, it smells exactly like the Veganis pear exfoliating cream. Simply a no for me. It does smell clean, but very herbal and like that ‘overripe’ pear.

If I were to define it in colours: very pale pastel stripes of yellow, green, and a touch of pale pink, with fine white lines. Very crisp, nothing diffuse, with a certain luminosity and a hint of aquatic notes. Imagine flowers and plants in those shades in a well-tended garden beside a clean lake. It has a base reminiscent of crisp perfumes like Britney’s Believe, Bvlgari’s Rose Essentielle, the one from Tiffany’s, or some versions of Chanel’s Chance. Girls with a ‘clean girl’ aesthetic recommend it; it has that spotless character. It’s not strong nor excessively fresh, but perfect for summer (I tested it in July in Madrid). It’s distinctive and recognisable. It’s friendly for the day but also for the night; it’s like going out partying without having had a drop to drink. You’re not in ‘let loose’ mode; it makes you slightly distant, and that’s fine. You don’t need to wear warm scents just because it’s night. I believe Kate Middleton would wear this at night for that fine elegance (out of curiosity, I read she uses Joe Malone’s Orange Blossom, which also suits her, but the orange gives her a warmer aura). Personally, I like it, but there’s something that doesn’t quite convince me. It’s a perfume many love right now, but for now, it’s not for me. Disclaimer: I only tested one very well-executed dupe, so my opinion is general.
I don’t understand how no one voted for the similarity to Burberry Her Eau de Toilette; it’s identical!
It’s one of the few times a scent smells exactly like its name suggests: pear and freesia. Applause! I absolutely adore this fragrance.
