I grabbed this fragrance right when it launched. Given it’s by Pierre Bourdon, my expectations were sky-high, and honestly, it hasn’t let me down. At first, the citrus notes take charge (I detect bergamot and orange, even though they aren’t listed), blended with vetiver and that woody touch of pine and cypress, which instantly reminded me of Terre d’Hermès. Then the citrus fades to make way for those green notes of pine, cypress, vetiver and tuya, making it somewhat greener than Terre. The scent stays this way until it settles on the skin after six hours, where the cedar and cypress woods come to the fore. To be honest, there are many similarities to the legendary Terre, but Grigioperla Essence is lighter, greener and less citrusy. It’s very versatile, suitable for any season and occasion, smelling pleasant, clean and formal, refreshing and cheerful. If you like TDH, you’ll certainly adore Essence.
