Intense Cafe by Montale is an oriental vanilla fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2013, this olfactive composition was created by Pierre Montale. A unisex fragrance that leans slightly towards the feminine. Here there is a prominent rose accompanied by a gourmand aroma, a coffee-with-milk sensation, in an oriental style. It’s enveloping and will delight lovers of the sweet. Good longevity and projection for cold weather. Worth trying, especially given the price it usually commands, as it approaches the niche world.
I like it, but I bought it expecting a coffee scent. In reviews, I saw that many people noticed coffee with milk, but on me it smells like sweet tobacco with roses, as if you crushed tobacco, added sugar, and roses. The longevity isn’t the bombshell they say for Montale; on me it lasts about 7 hours on the skin, and after two hours it becomes more intimate, just for me and those who get very close. I bought it blindly expecting intense coffee, but that’s not the case for me. Fortunately, I love that tobacco scent.
Delicious!!! I love it because it smells like Intense Roses Musk from the same house, but with a touch of coffee. It has the same intensity, trail, and longevity as its sibling IRM; I never get tired of enjoying them.
For those who say it doesn’t smell of coffee: yes, it has other notes, but when it smells of coffee, it smells of coffee.
It’s the same as Mancera’s Roses Vanille, with less longevity than the latter, and I didn’t detect any coffee scent anywhere.
Given the name ‘Intense Café’, I imagined a smell of coffee beans, but I was surprised by how prominent the rose is, a note I adore. Don’t expect much coffee or just coffee. It’s a bottled gem that lasts for hours. I highly recommend it if you like rose and sweet, almost gourmand, bases. Mmm, you are divine, Intense Café!
What a fantastic perfume. One of the few masterpieces of recent years in the feminine category. It’s my wife’s favourite, along with Feve Delicieuse. It opens with soft coffee and a sweetened, vanilla rose that is wonderful. Ultra-feminine and addictive. A marvel by Pierre Montale that has inspired countless clones, though none match its charm. It projects and lasts well. What a pity there are so many Zara copies or niche brands ripping it off; its mass production is a shame. Regards.
I have a vial and it smells almost identical to Roses Vanille. I’m not usually a fan of roses, but here they are the star with body and power. Surprisingly, the more I use it, the more I’m hooked on the sweetness and vanilla. I don’t understand the ‘Intense Café’ part because the coffee is only noticeable at the start and isn’t the highlight. I was slightly disappointed by that, but aside from being sugary, it has a musky note and an incredible creaminess. It lasts and projects like a monster. If you like rose and vanilla, it’s a gem; if you’re after coffee, look elsewhere. EDIT: I don’t know what’s happening, but I’m already hooked. Changing to I LIKE IT 😱
Smells exactly as the notes describe: roses, spiced coffee, and a musky base. Unlike other reviews, the coffee is very noticeable here. It smells sexy and is definitely unisex. I recommend it.
I absolutely love it; it’s stylish and 100% unisex. Perfect for autumn and winter; in summer it would be too strong and sweet.
I’m a coffee lover and this fragrance was love at first sniff. In the opening, I smell sweet coffee with rose; as it dries down, it leaves a delicious coffee scent (like a cappuccino) that accompanies you until the end. Recommended for cold days.
What a lovely rose-vanilla combo… The coffee is felt very fleetingly. I expected to feel it as in Mancera’s Aoud Cafe, but here it is fused with the rose and vanilla in a perfect amalgam, very well crafted with an unbeatable balance. Is it unisex? Yes, but lacking oud, it leans more feminine. In conclusion, simply delicious. What more can I say? I’ve just added it to my collection. It smells similar to Orientica’s Velvet Gold, but it’s cheaper and has similar longevity; the presentation is needless to say. If you like this scent, try the one I mentioned and you’ll be fascinated. If you want something almost identical but super economical, there’s one by Rihanna called Sab Ha Wa Oud costing around $40. Excellent, but nothing beats this Intense Café, which is the best. Edit: this Intense Café has greater longevity than the Orientica, better development, although it doesn’t project as much. Totally recommended. Very rich scent.
My boyfriend doesn’t like coffee, and without knowing he was wearing it, he loves it; he says he’d prefer it in winter because it feels warm. I like it… I’m not sure yet. It smells of dark coffee, very black, with roses and something balsamic or mentholated, strong, like menthol sweets that clear the nose, yet dark. Perhaps it’s the acidity of black coffee. If people are three parts water, I am two parts coffee; I like coffee, but this perfume doesn’t quite convince me, nor does it kill my taste for coffee. We’ll see how it performs in winter.
I love this perfume with all my heart. Many consider it the typical femme fatale, but for me, it’s comforting, calm, and sensual. Perfect for a date or for staying in at home reading on a rainy day. Ideal for autumn and has medium longevity. Despite the name, what I notice most are gourmand roses and a chocolatey musk. One of the best gourmands if you don’t want anything heavy. 11/10 <3
As a coffee lover, it was love at first sniff. In the opening, I smell sweet coffee with rose; as it dries down, it leaves a coffee scent (like a cappuccino). Everyone says it’s femme fatale, but for me, it’s an embracing scent, perfect for a romantic or friendly date, or for staying in at home reading on a rainy day. Ideal for an autumn afternoon watching Netflix. Despite the name, what I notice most are gourmand roses and a chocolatey musk, with the coffee there but not the protagonist. A special gourmand. For me, it’s a 10 for scent and performance.
What a disappointment. When I first tried it, it lasted a long time, but after buying it, I barely smell it. Also, the bottle arrived defective. It’s my first Montale, and it has disappointed me.
Personally, I don’t detect a marked coffee note, but I do smell those sweetened roses and vanilla notes found in many perfumes now; that’s why it’s not very original. It’s a comforting, sweet fragrance, ideal for autumn and cold weather. Nothing sexy; it’s more like a wool jumper or coat. The longevity wasn’t good: about four hours on skin and clothes, but very subtle. I finished it, killed my desire for a ‘Montale’, and moved on…
With that name, I expected more coffee. The opening is 100% floral, and only once it settles does a very soft coffee note appear in the background, maintaining a floral and sweet scent. As a coffee lover, I tested it to buy it… although it’s unisex, on my skin it smells very feminine. I wouldn’t wear it myself, but I’d love to smell it on a woman.
I haven’t smelled it yet. People say it smells like RISTRETTO INTENSE CAFÉ, which doesn’t interest me. Based on the notes, it resembles MANCERA AOUD CAFE, but it lacks the oud and the blackcurrants. I’ll give it a try, but they also say it smells like MANCERA ROSES VANILLA, which complicates the purchase.
I sprayed it on each hand 15–20 minutes ago: Mancera ROSES VANILLA and Montale INTENSE CAFÉ. Together they are almost identical. Mancera lives up to its name, but with Montale I expected a dominant coffee note from start to finish. Initially, yes, but then the rose and vanilla take over everything. The coffee fades quickly. What a pity.
My mother has Roses Vanille by Mancera and it is the same. The only difference is that at the end of the rose and vanilla, this one leaves a hint of very subtle ground coffee, whereas Mancera retains the sugary notes. The performance is identical, so if you are undecided, buy the cheaper one or grab a deal.
@mohr_711… In terms of value, the 120ml bottle is cheaper and the atomiser with magnetic cap is worthy of niche: cloud-like sprays with micro-droplets, excellent performance (6-8 sprays). If you have one, you do not need the other. I tested both on my sister: Roses Vanilla is more floral, Intense Café is sweeter without being cloying, with very subtle coffee if you hold it close to the nose. The scent is pleasant, but it owes much because the coffee is not intense. It should be called Latte Rose or Rose Milkcchino.
One of my favourites: I enjoy smelling it but cannot see myself wearing it, though I am sure it will sell. It seems super sexy, for a sensitive, bohemian, spiritual man, nothing macho. Russell Brand embodies that profile. If you seek coffee but something more masculine, try Killian’s Intense Café. Montale’s Ristretto does exactly that: more coffee in the opening. The best is this one, the most balanced.
A fake coffee. It is a synthetic rose and feminine perfume with notes like a cappuccino, nothing like black coffee. Everyone loves it and it shows, even if it is not in ‘best mode’ as many claim, it is worth it despite the name.
At first, I had great affection for it, especially the amber on my skin. Over time, it is no longer as obsessive as Montale’s Chocolate Greedy. Good moments, but it no longer captivates me.
It lives up to its reputation. All Montales are hits: they smell exactly as described (coffee, rose, amber) and are rich, balanced, and beautiful. They are an olfactory rainbow, and truly rare is a unisex that is this authentic. Delicious, though I wonder if dupes match this quality.
Sweet, subtle, and elegant. Not macho, but the vanilla and rose lend softness with a coffee base. Unlike other Montales, it is not a beast: it lasts about six hours. If they toned down the rose and boosted the coffee with wood, it would be ideal for men. It starts strange before becoming an addictive gourmand.
I drink coffee daily and detect nothing of it here… The vanilla with the floral bouquet is a lovely experience, reminiscent of Narciso Rodríguez. Definitely a feminine fragrance, nothing unisex, as the shop assistant told me.
My first niche review: I smell no coffee, only a sharp, aggressive rose. In the background, something sweet but unidentifiable, nothing else. It reminds me of commercial air fresheners that hit the olfactory bulb hard with random flowers. Ultimately, it smells like that typical synthetic rose from Montale: you either love it or can’t stand it.
Smells of spiced rose and lingers far too long; the coffee note is barely perceptible. I get a headache wearing it, even though I know others would adore it. I’ve tried it countless times yet it remains strange to me, more suited to a garden than skin. 2/10. 🍂
I do perceive the coffee, but it’s more of a vanilla latte over a bed of dark, dried roses. The title is misleading, as the coffee is subtle and not the main note, acting more as an accent to the others. It’s not thinking about how coffee smells, but how a café adorned with bouquets of flowers would smell. Upon drying, the most evident notes are vanilla rose and amber. The powdery point that is declared is true, which is the hardest for me to discern. I use it for temperatures below 21°C; it’s the type of fragrance that gives you a hug. It’s the type of gourmand that doesn’t make me feel sick, as it has the dark and unisex point I need to wear it comfortably. However, among the brand’s stars, I prefer Arabians Tonka as it feels more elegant to me. Good trail and longevity. I agree with other reviews regarding linearity: it’s very similar to Mancera’s Roses Vanille, so it’s not worth buying one if you already have the other.
Brilliant perfume for rose lovers, because I feel it loaded with it. It lasts well and is noticeable, a little more feminine than masculine. I consider it one of those perfumes that even if you’re not interested in them, you should at least smell them for the experience. 8.7/10.
Intense Café is another good perfume where the coffee note is recognisable, but not at the level of an espresso or like in Ristretto from the same brand. The combination with rose, vanilla and a musk that doesn’t feel entirely plastic makes the result lean towards gourmand, perform excellently and handle super well in the cold. The first time I smelled it, it was very intense, but I think with the right amount, the experience will be more than satisfactory. Personally, it’s a super pleasant perfume I’d bet on especially in winter, although it’s not my definitive coffee perfume. Note: 8/10. Tested from the discovery set.
What could possibly go wrong with coffee, roses and vanilla? Here we have an exquisitely seductive fragrance from Montale. Intense Café offers an atomic projection that lasts until you’re exhausted, ensuring you’ll leave a memorable trail. The scent is hugely seductive, ideal for dates, cooler weather and situations where you want to stand out. The interesting thing is that the coffee isn’t overwhelming nor does it approach the gourmand profile like in other works by the brand. Here, the rose and vanilla are the protagonists, enveloping the composition and adding an attraction that means you never tire of it. The combination is delicious and well-balanced. In short, Intense Café by Montale is a wonderful recommendation. If you’re looking for a unique fragrance that makes you feel irresistible, you should definitely add it to your collection.
On my skin, it leaves an exquisite, sweet rose. It’s a very feminine, delicate and elegant perfume. Unfortunately, I don’t perceive the coffee; the floral notes are what dominate. I think it could be bought blind if you love the rose note.
An excellent sweet and charming scent for the evening. Its coffee and amber notes, with an opening of roses, make anyone want to wear it.
An olfactory clickbait that, despite everything, has worked. Its name promises one thing, but the fragrance takes me on an unexpected journey. Yes, there is coffee at the end, but it lasts barely five minutes and feels more anecdotal than authentic, synthetic, almost like instant coffee. Montale could have called it something more elegant and avoided the coffee reference. What truly dominates is a velvet mantle of rose petals that unfolds almost from the start. A rose so well-crafted that it has made me reconcile with this note. It’s warm and round, and right there the clickbait triumphs: the rose is a door to my past, evoking Arab culture, my Syrian grandmother, and those jars of rose petal jam. This Intense Café tells that story: a family breakfast with toast and that special jam, while my mother read the coffee grounds to my father. A simple scene but laden with meaning. It’s perfectly unisex; while I understand some noses might see it as more feminine, I wear it with total confidence. It’s ideal for winter: its warmth, spiced sweetness, and enveloping aura shine in the cold. So if you order an intense coffee and are gifted a bouquet of roses, accept it, for life is just that.
Like all Montales, it’s extraordinary. On my skin, the coffee note recedes into the background behind the flowers and vanilla. I think it would look great on a young man.
Sweet and characterful. A novelty for me: the sharp note doesn’t come from citrus, but from a marked, powdery rose that dominates the entire development. As it dries, it sweetens like a rose wrapped in thick honey. The coffee is very subtle, coming and going, adding a spiced and warm nuance. Many perceive it as a creamy latte, but for me it’s almost imperceptible; still, I see it as a challenge and an expansion of my tastes. I bought it recently and I’m still discovering it, but it’s an interesting all-rounder that has already earned me many compliments. It wasn’t love at first sight, but there’s something that makes me want to understand it more, something that usually happens with perfumes I’ve just fallen in love with.
Flowers and vanilla with a barely perceptible hint of coffee after half an hour. The longevity is solid, as is typical for Montale.
