Watch out, this was quite disappointing. I didn’t own the Edition Blanche, and upon testing, the first thing I noticed was a super synthetic lemon note that I disliked in the opening. Gradually, the sharp scent faded and became more bearable. A month later, I bought the Chanel because I couldn’t believe an Allure with so much hype could be so disappointing; that’s when I realised there was no comparison. It has echoes of the original but is very poorly executed, far from the quality of the Blanche. I regret spending money on this poor clone.
A good alternative; it has all the musky woody profile of the Chanel Allures that transport me back to the mid-2000s (in my opinion, a magnificent decade for men’s perfumery). It isn’t the clone with the sweetest or most gourmand opening I’ve smelled, but it does have good depth and masculinity in the dry down. I see it as perfect for the office on a man aged 25 and above (even younger if the environment is formal or serious).
For some time now, Chanel Edition Blanche has been my favourite perfume. After reading reviews about a supposed inspiration, I decided to buy it to compare them side by side. In the opening, the similarity is surprising: it would be around 85% like the original Blanche. However, as the scent dries, it turns into a chemical lemon, very similar to the smell of those cheap limonene wipes, which completely ruins the fragrance. After two weeks of maceration, I smelled it again today, and to my surprise, that synthetic touch has halved. It still has some way to go to reach the creamy and refined profile of the Edition Blanche, but at least there is an intention to improve. I will continue to let it macerate for a couple of months and update here. For now, I wouldn’t recommend it, unless you are a true devotee of the Edition Blanche and want to try it as a last resort. Nevertheless, I warn you that it will probably happen to you as it did to me.
Mmm, a full-on citrus perfume; I thought it would be a bit sweeter or creamier. But it’s like a citrus for hot weather. It has a very slight sweetness, but it’s greatly toned down. I like it; it didn’t kill me, but it sits on the line of Dior Homme Cologne (not the same, but similar). 8/10 for daily wear 👍🏻
Smells fresh and rich, similar to Allure Blanche. I would like it to last a little longer. We’ll leave it to macerate to see how it develops later…
