About La Favorite
La Favorite from Jean Paul Gaultier: An Oriental Floral with Character
Jean Paul Gaultier launches La Favorite in 2026, a new feminine fragrance that sits firmly in the oriental floral family. It has been crafted by perfumers Amelie Jacquin and Quentin Bisch, who bring their signature depth and flair.
The scent opens with a burst of citrus and spice, then settles into a warm, powdery base of tonka and woods. La Favorite is designed to be noticed, yet it retains a certain elegance that makes it wearable.
The composition starts with ylang-ylang, cinnamon, bitter orange, lemon peel and bergamot. The combination is immediately refreshing – the citrus brightens, while the cinnamon adds a hint of intrigue.
At its heart are flower of the night, jasmine, geranium, rose and juniper. The flower of the night gives the fragrance a rich, intoxicating presence, balanced by the fresh, slightly resinous aspect of juniper.
The base blends benzoin, tonka bean, vanilla, Virginia cedar and white musk. This forms a creamy, ambery trail that feels both comforting and elegant, with the cedar providing a subtle structural backbone.
Amber, vanilla, warm spicy, citrus, sweet, white floral and aromatic accords are all present, making La Favorite a complex fragrance that evolves beautifully over time. It works well as a statement scent for cooler months or evening events.
Early indications show an average rating of 3.62 out of 5 from more than a hundred reviews, suggesting that the perfume has a distinct identity that appeals to those who enjoy bold choices.
This fragrance is for women who appreciate a powerful yet refined presence. It is best suited to those who like oriental florals with a gourmand edge and are not afraid to stand out in a crowd.
La Favorite is a well-executed addition to the Gaultier portfolio. It combines the house's flair for drama with a polished composition, resulting in a perfume that is both memorable and appealing.

👎🏿I didn’t like it at all. So powdery, sharp and vintage floral that I dismissed it from the start. I wanted to leave it on my skin to see how it dried down, out of curiosity, and I couldn’t: I couldn’t stand the smell and washed my arm with soap. Even so, it still smelt, so the only good thing about it is its strength.
Unfortunately, I didn’t like it in the slightest. I expected something like Fragile, but it doesn’t resemble it at all, only the bottle… an absolute disappointment. I don’t find it floral… it’s sweet, woody and a little sharp, with the lady of the night covered by everything else… the drydown improves a little… something reminds me of Divine le parfum. In the end, Bisch’s signature is there, that’s clear. I strongly recommend trying it, and under no circumstances expect Fragile, which is one of the most beautiful perfumes of tuberose and white flowers ever created.
A perfume that changes over the hours. A tonka bean appears, accompanied by a very present floral touch (lady of the night) that awakens a sense of nocturnal elegance. Then ylang-ylang appears, making it creamy and giving it that slightly fresher edge. It finishes on a drydown where, once again, the tonka bean steals the show and remains for hours… On skin, after about 6 hours, it reminds me very much of the drydown of Ch jasmine absolute. A marvel.
