Ferre fragrances have a hook that really grabs you. I was caught off guard because, with notes like apple and vanilla, I expected something sweet; instead, it hits the sweet spot perfectly without being cloying. After the first 20 minutes, where it smells a bit generic and sharp, it settles on the skin and unleashes the magic: black pepper blends with the warmth of ginger, enveloping you. It’s elegant, with that refined oriental touch that plays between delicate and intense, creating a unique atmosphere with amber, vanilla, or cedar, all sprinkled with sage and green apple. By the hour, it’s rounder on the nose and smells frankly excellent. Very good price for something so versatile.
I bought this online blind and it was quite amusing. The first thing we do with a new perfume is look for a dupe, and this was no exception. For those wanting to buy it without trying it, here goes: I applied L’Uomo on one wrist and Paco Rabanne’s One Million Lucky on the other; on my skin, it smells about 75% the same, but L’Uomo is warmer and less creamy than Lucky. Would I recommend it? Well, yes! For a blind buy, I’m not disappointed: pleasant aroma, easy to understand, wearable, and super versatile, plus the price is even better. Just be aware that in extreme heat, perhaps not, because it’s sweet and can feel a bit heavy. Rating: 8/10.
A fragrance I discovered recently. I found it on offer, they let me try it, and I loved it. I paid around twenty dollars. At first, the opening didn’t quite convince me, but once it dried down, it showed much better. I wear it daily for work and it has earned me several compliments. Highly recommended.
A fragrance that surprised me. There are many conventional, unoriginal launches on the market, some trying to copy to capitalise on the mass market, but Gianfranco Ferre’s L’Uomo makes the difference. The bergamot paired with cardamom, plus vanilla and black pepper, create a fresh and spicy accord with a strong olfactory character. On my skin, it comes across as intense and long-lasting. If you’re looking for something efficient and complex, I sincerely recommend it.
I tried to reconnect with this Gianfranco Ferré from 2000, recalling its creation Pontaccio 21, but I found myself with a perfume that my skin chemistry rejected instantly. It’s never the fragrance’s fault, but ultimately it disappointed me: it’s very sweet and somewhat generic, offering me nothing. Here the change from paper to skin is drastic, which is why I advise testing it properly beforehand to avoid surprises.
