Onyx Elixir by MARIA CHER.

I would remove the ginger and perhaps the pepper, because once they fade, the neroli and orange blossom dry out into a woody vanilla that lingers for hours. It’s worth it for the price and the excellent longevity; it lasts about 8 hours (which is rare on my skin) and stays on clothes. The trail is at a personal distance, ideal and very pleasant. I’m not convinced by the ginger, which is the only thing that bothers me, but it’s a good option among domestic perfumes. Of the Cher line, which I’ve tried them all, it’s the only one I like.

I owned it and I love it; it’s dark and mysterious, I consider it one of my signature scents. The day I was in the operating theatre for surgery, the surgeon complimented it; it’s completely striking. Without a doubt, I will buy it again. I tried Givenchy’s L’Interdit Rouge a few days later and I have to say they are very similar. Now, regarding longevity, I don’t know which will last longer on the skin as I couldn’t conduct the experiment, but I’ve read several reviews stating the original doesn’t have longevity worth spending that money on.

I thought I would like it because it has notes I usually enjoy, except for the vanilla. It’s too heavy for me; it makes me feel unwell. While it’s not a sweet fragrance, the blend of vanilla and ginger doesn’t suit my skin or nose. It has a very good trail and durability; I detect it well at night and in winter. It’s a perfume with a lot of body and personality, not for shy people because you will attract attention. I clarify that it’s not a bad perfume, but it doesn’t suit me, and I have an issue with vanilla in perfumes that causes me nausea.

Hello, what a potent and spicy scent. The neroli and pepper are very noticeable, but that opening with ginger and tea feels a bit unusual to me. Don’t buy it blindly unless you’re a fan of neroli or Givenchy’s L’Interdit Rouge (this is the dupe). Perfect for a winter night, extremely sophisticated.

I adore the traditional Onyx, but Elixir absolutely fascinates me. Ginger is a note I love, and here it is exquisite, playing beautifully with the neroli. It feels fresher and more wearable than the original, while the vanilla makes it, as others have said, addictive. Plus, it’s incredibly versatile for both weather and time of day, which is another bonus. For me, it’s a 10 from Cher for bringing us closer to the L’Interdit family at incredible prices. Excellent!

With all the positive reviews this perfume has, I expected something completely different. As soon as you put it on, you smell something like Tutti Frutti bubblegum; after half an hour, that scent fades considerably, leaving a vanilla note that, personally, I don’t like much. It feels somewhat like a lady’s perfume, though it’s not bad at all; it’s quite nice.

I find it super addictive. It starts strong with ginger and orange notes. Within seconds, I begin to smell the neroli, followed by an incredibly addictive vanilla scent. It has nothing to envy from designer fragrances. It lasts for hours on the skin and days on clothes. I own it and am certain I’ll buy it again.

Maria Cher surprised me this time, and for the better. I liked the traditional Onyx, but this is far superior.

Excellent value for money, perfect for going out at night and making an impression. It’s sweet, spiced, floral, and fruity—it has it all: a beautiful pear with spicy-sweet notes that dry down into a mysterious, sensual scent reminiscent of incense. The performance is another strong point: over six hours on the skin and a massive sillage at first that leaves a trail wherever you go.

I was eagerly awaiting this as it generated so many expectations. At first, I found it strong and very spicy, almost peppery. It dries down slightly to a woody note, but on my skin, it had quite a linear behaviour and an abysmal longevity of barely half an hour. The first thing that came to mind were those strong, spiced, animalic lady perfumes from the 80s. It’s the kind of scent a lady with a towering bouffant, stiletto heels, and a leather jacket would wear. In its modern version, it’s very similar to L’Interdit but costs and lasts much less. I think it would be an excellent option if you like that scent but can’t afford it. That said, the black bottle is gorgeous and the perforated cap is incredibly comfortable. It’s not my style, but without a doubt, it’s an EXCELLENT perfume. The perfume industry in Argentina is at an excellent level despite the lack of investment and our economic crises. Congratulations.

L’Interdit is more sparkling, spicier with the ginger, and has an almost smoky dry-down, whereas Onyx Elixir is softer, more linear, and less explosive (it has a chili note that stings alongside the pepper, but lacks that ginger spice and features a fresher orange). If you don’t like the traditional Onyx, you might still enjoy this (I don’t like either the Onyx EDP or L’Interdit EDP). I think it can be bought blindly and is a more versatile flanker than the original (though if you prefer stronger scents, you might opt for the EDP). On me, it has moderate projection and lasts about five hours, which is quite good for the price. It’s a perfume I’ll always keep, especially because I love the scent and I don’t feel guilty wearing it, something that definitely happens with L’Interdit Rouge due to its high price.
