Orchidée Vanille by Van Cleef & Arpels is a floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2009, this composition was created by perfumer Randa Hammami. The olfactory pyramid begins with top notes of mandarin and lychee; the heart reveals violet, bitter almond and Bulgarian rose; while the base settles on an absolute of vanilla, tonka bean and cedar.

  • An exquisite find! A seductive vanilla dancing with almond and chocolate, with a floral/fruity wink. It is gourmand, floral, and creamy all at once. So subtle and refined it leaves you breathless. Extremely delicate.

  • There are perfumes that arrive and leave a mark on the heart. It has become narcotic; I can’t stop smelling it, and every time my sense of smell delights in this aroma, I feel a profound happiness. It has dethroned my beloved Hypnotic Poison, and although they are nothing alike, both are my favourite vanilla scents. It has a silky, harmonious opening that reaches my nose as vanilla, almond, and chocolate so finely linked that it is a true pleasure. It is not a perfume with great changes, but upon drying, I perceive the most delicate orchid and violet. I do not detect the rose or the cedar. To summarise, it is so impressive, creamy and refined… I could spend hours writing praises. A delight for the senses.

Orchidee Vanille is a fragrance with absolute power in perfumery, with a clear and forceful vanilla tendency. The first time I smelled the sillage, I was nervous because the reviews promised a lethal bomb, and it is, without exception. But I’m reviewing what I perceived on my skin, which changed quite a bit. At first, there’s a liquor-like scent, that’s the first clue, and the narcotic vanilla is as much as one can take, yet with lightness at the same time. I don’t know how to explain it, but it gave me a kick, yes, but with style and distinction; this perfume is brutal. When I detect the orchid, I think of a men’s fragrance; it always happens to me with this flower. Here, the almond surrounds it and makes it sinful, like walking into an artisanal confectionery and diving flat onto all the sky-topped bonbons and truffles, a unique experience. As time passes, I notice faint citrus and very light floral notes that provide a brief respite from so much sweet lust. I’m sure my pupils dilated to the maximum, immersed in so much sensuality and sweet vice. The mother who founded it, in all letters. Among gourmands, this one must be watched closely as if it were a black mamba.

A great discovery of the year, a sweet and romantic blend that makes me want to wear it every day. The opening is complex, a mix of roses, chocolate, vanilla, and creamy almonds, with a subtle citrus note in the base that provides the perfect balance. I love the evolution more: the velvet, powdery vanilla and roses are the best part. At one point, it smells like expensive makeup. After several hours, it settles into a powdery dry-down with lots of vanilla and a touch of wood. I’ve worn it at these holiday parties with the posadas, and now I can’t stop thinking of Christmas whenever I smell it. The longevity and trail are moderate; it’s not very loud, but during festive hugs, I noticed when the embrace would prolong itself just to inhale my scent; the boldest said ‘you smell delicious’, while the rest enjoyed it in silence.

Touching on perfection… sophisticated and refined to the extreme. What more could one say?

  • Among gourmands, this one boasts the most indulgent vanilla. It carries an immense touch of distinction, as if you were wearing it to seduce: sensual, warm, and incredibly sexy. The notes are beautifully harmonised with a chocolatey aura, yet it tastes like the chocolate from freshly made truffles. The almond adds a very contemporary twist. When you wear it, compliments come from everywhere and the longevity is luxurious. It has a heavy trail that withstands some over-application without becoming overwhelming. High-quality notes at a high price, but its distinction makes it worthwhile. To be eaten or to eat, it is marvellous.

I tried this fragrance and what a delight. Although sweet, it is delicate and discreet. Longevity and sillage are moderate, but the scent is addictive. I love it. Scent: 10, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 6, Value for money: 5, Versatility: 8, Overall: 9.5.

Orchidee Vanille is delicate, sweet, and subtle. What strikes me most are the vanilla and mandarin. It is pastry vanilla, comforting, ideal for these days of confinement. Every time I smell it, I think of a warm orange flan, or vanilla tea with almond milk. Or better, the scent of dark vanilla bean in a creamy ice cream with black specks. It has a soft trail, only for close contact or personal use. Its performance is acceptable, about six hours. Ideal for temperate climates, rainy days, or before bed (autumn, spring). I do not see it as formal, more for everyday use or when we need that sweetness to comfort us and curb cravings. Ideal for lovers of delicate and gourmand vanilla, but sophisticated, with poise. It is not just any vanilla; it is very well made and worth it. For me, it is feminine.

Orchidee Vanille is delicate, sweet, and subtle, with vanilla and mandarin taking the lead. It reminds me of vanilla custard extract, so comforting on these days. Every time I smell it, I think of a warm orange flan or a vanilla almond milk tea. It also evokes dark vanilla bean in a creamy ice cream. The trail is soft, suitable only for close contact. It lasts around six hours. Ideal for temperate climates, rainy days, or before bed (autumn, spring). Not formal, but perfect for everyday wear or whenever we need that comforting sweetness. For lovers of delicate, indulgent yet sophisticated vanilla with class. Worth trying. It is feminine.

  • The most delicious, powdery, and creamy vanilla I’ve ever smelled. A true treat for the senses. It sits right on the skin but I can still detect it all morning. I’ll definitely be repurchasing.

  • It seems to me the most delicious, powdery, and creamy vanilla I have ever smelled. A treat for the senses that stays close to the skin but I can detect it all morning. I will certainly repurchase.

  • Finally I have this wonder and now I am Gollum, guarding the box in the cupboard, far from everything. I only spritz a little on my wrist before bed and feel myself transported. I had not yet recovered from Shaghaf Oud and this has quite shaken me. It is an experience: this vanilla is EXQUISITE, warm, cosy, and sophisticated. Nothing is superfluous or missing; its trail, though not wide, is perfect for something so delicate. It bewitched me years ago and won’t leave my mind. I hate citrus, but here it is wonderfully combined, giving a spark to a creamy, edible fragrance (without being vulgar). The blend of almond, chocolate, and flowers is terribly delicious. I would wear it by day, but I wouldn’t rule out a relaxed evening or a date. A great option for vanilla lovers.

  • Finally, I have it, and now I’m like Gollum guarding it in the wardrobe. I just spritz a little on my wrist before bed and feel myself teleported. After the surprise of Shaghaf Oud, this absolute gem left me breathless. It’s an experience: exquisite, warm, cosy and sophisticated vanilla. Nothing is missing or excessive. The trail is perfect for something so delicate. It enchanted me years ago. I hate citrus, but here it’s blended beautifully, adding a spark to a creamy, edible base without being vulgar. The mix of almond, chocolate and flowers is delicious. I’d wear it by day, but also for a relaxed evening or a date. A great option for vanilla lovers.

Top reviews, but the vanilla on my skin reads citrusy, almond-y and floral. It didn’t break any mould or surprise me. The projection is non-existent, wearing only for myself, and it lasts about three hours. Perhaps reformulated, but for me, it’s not worth it.

  • Very intimate. After two hours (being generous), it stays 10 cm from the skin and remains so for 8 hours, dropping to skin level in the last two hours. I mainly notice the orchid, vanilla and musk throughout the life of the scent.

  • After trying several of these soft vanillas, I’ve realised they’re not for me. Perhaps my sense of smell isn’t very acute and I find them very subtle. Orchidee Vanille has a citrusy and fresh point at the start and a pleasant dry-down of vanilla and orchid (which reminds me of the old one by Yves Rocher). I don’t find it gourmand. Its sillage is soft and lasts about three hours. I only tested it on cold days, perhaps because it was hot outside. In short, I found it at less than half price and I’ll pass. For this Christmas Eve, I’m going to wear another vanilla that does awaken my excitement, perhaps insultingly potent, sweet and synthetic, but which I feel is more my style: Sweet Vanilla by Montale. I wish you many perfumed gifts. Merry Christmas. Scent 6/10, Longevity 3/10, Sillage 2/10, Value for money 3/10, Versatility 4/10, Packaging 8.5/10. Would I buy it again? No.

Wonderful gourmand vanilla, citrus and chocolate fragrance. Orchidee Vanille has a very citrusy opening due to the tangerine, but the black chocolate, flowers and a potent vanilla soon appear. After a few minutes, it softens and leaves a warm, powdery and musky vanilla. It never loses these notes; they are felt throughout the entire journey. It’s sweet but not cloying and very well balanced. In my opinion, it’s a perfume for personal enjoyment. Very delicate, sensual, discreet and relaxing. SCARCITY OF LONGEVITY AND ZERO SILLAGE on my skin. This is the only reason why I don’t buy it. It’s not worth paying so much for such poor performance.

It happens to me as it does to others: the scent is delicious, but it doesn’t last more than 15 minutes on my skin. I’ve tried several from this line and it’s a pity that the same thing happens with all of them; they don’t last absolutely anything. The only one that seems to have better performance is Santal Blanc.

  • This fragrance is beautiful. For gourmand lovers, they will certainly like it. It’s a vanilla-scented aroma where chocolate, orange and flowers also play a part. It’s one of those sweets that doesn’t cloy and even non-sweet-tooth people like it. Although at first it might seem feminine unisex, as I use it more I see it’s more unisex. As for longevity, it lasts all day. From when I spray it in the morning until late afternoon and evening. It clings very well to the collar of my shirt and I like it immensely.

  • It’s beautiful, delicious, elegant and feminine. It’s a vanilla that’s not of this world: delicate, floral and chocolatey, with a touch of candied orange. That’s how I imagine dreams, good people and sweetness smell: in bronze tones, beautiful life and peace. I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t like it. But there’s always a BUT, and in this case, it’s its longevity, sillage and performance. I’ve moved it, shaken it, let it rest and even rubbed myself all over with vaseline and creams, but nothing works. It doesn’t smell, gentlemen, nothing after 30 minutes. It’s frustrating because I spray it 8 or 10 times and when I leave the house there’s nothing left. One day I was literally drenched in it and my friends asked me why I hadn’t applied any that day.

  • Reina Amigdala

It’s a gem: one of the best vanillas I’ve ever tried. It comes with notes of orange, dry, slightly powdery, almond-like and chocolatey. I’m fascinated by the scent, but the performance is terrible, what a shame. It doesn’t last more than two hours and projects very little, despite using more than 20 sprays. It also doesn’t cling well to clothes. It could be perfect, but seriously, the performance is among the worst in my collection.

  • I’ve had it for two or three years and haven’t used it much, but today, at 8:20 in the morning, I put it on and it’s 21:00 at night and I can still smell it on my wrists. Over these years, its longevity has improved beastly. Today, I’ve fallen in love with it all over again. The scent is a wonderful vanilla.

  • At first, it didn’t quite convince me, but I imagine it would be a lethal weapon in a woman’s hands. As soon as I spray it, I detect that spicy, almost boozy vanilla note, but it lasts only a breath. Then the volume drops and it blends with that sweet, floral side. The almond is perceptible, though without bitterness. It lasts well, but the projection is very contained. In short, I would love to smell it on a woman.
