Oud Rain by Renier Perfumes

I don’t know why, but I remembered the fruity/tropical notes as much more realistic than when I smelled it again. Oud Rain is a quite pleasant fruity/woody combo. In the opening, right after application, I note a bright, juicy, sweet, and slightly acidic ‘tutti-frutti’ accord. It recreates the aroma of tropical fruits, although personally I don’t identify any with clarity; I perceive more papaya than mango (for a good Cruz del Sur II in the opening), but hey, what’s interesting is the conjunction with the oud and that makes it work well. I note a green nuance to this stage, though not strident. Just after that juicy opening, the oud is noticed: sharp, medicinal, and spicy. It is very accompanied by saffron; in the transition from opening to dry-down, this spice is perfectly noted, hidden but gaining presence. The oud and spices form the backbone of the perfume and what is appreciated when the fruits fade, being woody/fruity (not the other way round) for the first hours and becoming woody/leathery for the rest of the time. A pleasant creation, which doesn’t smell excessively natural (neither the fruits nor the oud), but conveys the impression of being exotic very well, making it a very wearable oud; despite the thickness, the fruits compensate by making it bright and less heavy. Moderate to good performance. It’s not a beast, but in spring and summer (especially summer nights) it works quite well.

The oud and spices hold everything together; when the fruits fade, it leaves a woody-fruity scent (not the reverse) in the first hours, becoming woody-leathery afterwards. It’s a pleasant creation, which doesn’t smell 100% natural (neither the fruits nor the oud), but conveys that exotic feeling very well, making it a very wearable oud because the fruits make it bright and less heavy. The performance is moderate to good: it’s not a beast, but in spring and summer, especially on hot nights, it works brilliantly.

Oud Rain from Renier is another ‘must try’ from the brand. A tropical aroma with complexity and originality beyond doubt, very rich, but it must be attended to with time to appreciate its facets. Its prominent notes are the tropical fruits in a juicy tutti-frutti. In the middle, I feel two lines that balance the background oud: spices (the most felt is saffron and nutmeg) and a subtle herbal accord that lowers the acidic and sweet sensation of the fruits. The result is cheerful and purposeful, with depth that few fresh perfumes achieve (Tygar comes to mind, though not similar). It evolves with less juicy fruits, a more present oud that is never unpleasant, and less piercing spices, without losing its essence. Perfectly unisex, for temperate and warm climates, casual and semi-formal situations, with excellent performance. Oud Rain is another one for the collection that I invite you to try. A very good fragrance from Renier. I don’t see a very changing evolution, but rather a development; the notes take different protagonism. It opens fruity, but I already perceive the oud from the start. These two notes never abandon us. In the opening, the fruits are bright and the oud deep, marching separately… With the drying down and well-judged spicy notes, they meet to create a softer aroma. I detect something woody and a floral nuance that adds a powdery accord. Perfect for daytime and not very formal occasions. It performs and projects well without being excessive. I don’t see it for extreme cold or heat. A pleasant aroma, one I wouldn’t buy at the overpriced tag.

Wet wood and tropical fruits are the first things I notice. It’s an original niche that mixes the darkness of oud with the vitality of juicy, green fruits, especially at the start. The sensation is of humidity, as if you had just cut fruits under a storm with resinous woods around. Spiced saffran is present all the time, subtle but giving a push to the oud base. A clean musk cleans the dry down, making it discreet. It lasts 7-8 hours, with moderate projection that drops to personal distance. It goes from casual to formal, ideal for moderate temperatures. For those over 20: if it didn’t convince you at first, give it another chance; it’s worth it. Recommended.

This perfume is a tropical utopia in the middle of a remote desert. Huge silver trays on the earth, filled with fragrant, juicy fruits bathed in warm Oud oil that make them glow, as if they came from a painting still wet. A magical place where exotic spices and centuries-old trees wrap you in gentle caresses until they enchant and intoxicate you with their scent. This is Oud Rain by Renier Perfumes, a sublime, perfect, and wonderful Oriental Woody fragrance, with excellent longevity and moderate-to-heavy projection in the first hours.

What a delightful composition; I was totally smitten. A delicious fruity scent accompanied by an oud that is nothing complicated from my point of view. It’s a bright, juicy fruitiness, the mango feels totally delicious. Moderate longevity, it’s not a beast; it’s a pity the composition is so rich; it’s not complex and I think most people could like it.

Cacique and Oud Rain are undoubtedly my favourites from Renier.
