It doesn’t smell as much of patchouli at the end; Aqua Etherius tastes more like ‘light flavour’. Ideal for patchouli sceptics or those who hesitate, it’s like a perfume made with homeopathy. If you’re looking for classic, intense or deep patchouli, forget Patchouli Aromatique. It has warm rose notes and a spicy touch, but with barely a pinch of patchouli and vetiver, it remains too ethereal and timid on the skin for the 180 euros it costs. A bit mossy, woody and resinous, with no personality to justify the price; it’s a flat, pale green fragrance that fails to move me. It could come from any pharmacy or obscure brand; nothing makes it worth buying. The Maison collection is better; this is a clear water hole. To be forgotten.
