Randa commands respect. It’s a challenge: how to wear it without being devoured or revealing what I least wish to cultivate? It overwhelms me. Few listed notes, yet I perceive many more. It’s a feminine floral, but not saccharine; it’s powerful and intimidating, even to the wearer. On skin, it’s a dark garnet Taif rose with green and spicy nuances, surrounded by carnations and geraniums. At times, neroli and jasmine dripping with honey. All wrapped in green leaves and deep roots, encased in old, smoked leather with earthy vetiver. Finally, flowers in a sweet, animalic, carnal musk, almost obscene. It smells of the eighties, with a sillage lasting over 12 hours. Better not to overdo it. It’s for cold and night, pure vintage character. Randa is a perfumed tree with red and white fruits, a trunk of leather, oud, and vetiver, and if you dig deep, thick, lustful honey. It’s for a femme fatale with the world, with five diamonds, four trapezes, and a pole-dance bar. I barely reach one diamond and feel naive; I’d need more lives to wear it without being consumed. Thanks to Bofifa, I use it privately for my dark fantasies… in my dreams. As Mari Trini said: let me dream, let me arrive, I don’t want to be left behind, the dreams are mine.
I had a 6ml roll-on of Randa, a blatant copy of Balenciaga’s Rumba, right down to the red and black box. Today I applied them to each wrist to compare. Randa is well-made; I laugh that the notes are different yet they smell identical at first. They share that heart of wax and sweet floral incense. Rumba is more complex, while Randa is simple, monolithic, and synthetic. To me, it doesn’t smell of rose, perhaps daisies or carnation, but definitely saffron. It’s very warm, suitable only for winter or cool nights. Imagine dim scented candles, floral incense, and plenty of honey that, once dried, smells like chewing gum or caramel. It’s not for everyone, but it’s worth it for the ridiculous price. I ordered oils from Al-Rehab, and while some smell better than the expensive ones, this is a hook.
This 6ml roll-on isn’t for the timid; it’s for confident, daring women, especially at night. It smells of the eighties, powerful and personal: rose and saffron with a sweet amber and incense, like a classic quality soap. If you love vintage, you won’t regret it. Scent, longevity and sillage 8/10, value for money 10/10, versatility 7/10, and packaging 2/10. Would I buy it again? Yes.
I was gifted a small tube, and it’s pure Balenciaga Rumba. I’m not sure how long it lasts or if it’s a top note, but it’s perfect for keeping in my pocket to reapply whenever I need a touch-up of the original.
It smells of jasmine with resins and an animalic touch that truly captivates. I applied it to my neck once, and three men and a woman asked for it (she left me breathless).
