Ralph Lauren Romance Silver is one of the best men’s perfumes ever formulated. I do not understand why they discontinued it; sometimes the houses’ decisions are unexplainable. It is superior to its predecessor, Romance, which was already a great perfume. It has a spectacular opening of spiced citrus and cedar with a metallic touch. I loved wearing it at all hours. The first girl who said she loved it today is my wife, so it has a place in my memory. If you pass a pharmacy or perfumerie and see a dusty box, do not hesitate. It is a perfume I miss dearly. Rating: 10/10.

Ralph Lauren Romance Silver is one of the finest fragrances ever formulated for men. I fail to understand why they made the mistake of discontinuing it; sometimes the houses’ decisions make no sense. It surpasses its predecessor, the original Romance, which was already a great scent. It features a spectacular opening of spiced citrus, cedar, and a metallic touch. I loved wearing it all day long. The first woman to tell me she adored it today is my wife, so it holds a special place in my memory. If you happen to pass a pharmacy or perfumerie with a box (surely dust-covered), do not hesitate. It is something I miss immensely. Rating: 10/10

A superior fragrance to its father, Romance without a surname… yet equally generic. It is a metallic anise aroma, which is not bad, but lacks personality and for the price… there were superior alternatives available.

A spectacular fragrance, citrusy and oriental, with notes of nut and musk that gave tremendous energy. It was deliciously fresh and everyone gave me compliments. A true gem, the best to my taste from Ralph, a pity it is discontinued. I fail to understand how in recent years they have released a host of mediocre fragrances: Pony 1, 2, 3, 4, 455, 67, 7, 7, 89098089, instead of keeping fragrances with magic and charm. Although Romance for Men was more famous, for me Romance Silver for Men was by far the best. Today it occupies second place in my favourite list, surpassed only by Dior Homme 2011

Ralph Lauren Romance Silver is a citrus and alcoholic set with mentholated and boreal touches, where the brand breaks with the Polo philosophy for something more formal and commercial. For this reason, it sometimes disappoints: it becomes reserved and intimate, which is a pity because its opening and wood are very sparkling, especially the vodka with citrus. It is a shame it turns shy and personal; the scent is refined, something typical of Ralph Lauren, but as a Latin, I feel it falls short. It requires heavy application to maintain that alcoholic drink scent. In recent months, I used 70 ml in nine occasions, and what remains is just for collection. Regrettable that it is not recommended due to its poor performance. Scent 9.6, performance 6.

Ralph Lauren Romance Silver expresses a beautiful citrus and alcoholic ensemble with slightly boreal mentholated expressions (cypress and guaiac notes), where the brand opens a chapter that moves away from the Polo philosophy to channel a commercial vein, perhaps more oriented to less sporting and more formal categories. Perhaps for that reason, Romance Silver disappoints a little by becoming reserved and intimate, which is a pity because its beautiful opening and wood express themselves very sparkly, especially the vodka note touched by citrus. It is a pity to see the ensemble become timid and personal, as the scent is very refined, something not surprising in Ralph Lauren, but as a declared Latin, it falls short too much. Romance Silver requires over-application if one wishes to maintain that pleasant alcoholic beverage aroma; reason why I consumed at least 70ml of the bottle in a few months using it only about nine times. What remains will only be to maintain the olfactory trail. It is regrettable that this beautiful fragrance is not recommended due to its low performance. Scent 9.6, Performance 6

At first, a green note reminiscent of cypress with bergamot and that vodka-like alcoholic touch. After five hours, the violet emerges and the musk begins to show. By the 11-hour mark, only a faint trail of musk and soft wood remains. Many fragrances in this floral woody family are gentle, and this is one of them; quite discreet. Perhaps the most interesting aspect is the opening, especially for those seeking clear liquor alcohol notes. I see it more for spring and daytime use, as the dry-down is very soft and lacks the complexity needed for evening wear. I used the entire sample, around 1 ml, and it lasted over 10 hours with moderate, almost weak sillage, feeling skin-close in the final hours. Regarding the name, I felt no romantic vibe; it is too shy or discreet for that.

I have had this for a few years; I bought it because I wanted notes different from my usual range. I managed to find it again at an outlet in 2014. I recommend it 100 per cent: it is very soft yet has personality, fresh and nothing heavy. Yes, it is for daily wear, generally in the late afternoon or evening, and the results are excellent. What a pity it has been discontinued.

I was gifted this perfume for my birthday and have worn it for over two years. I see it as traditional: leathers, woods, and fruits. The opening is fresh and light, with orange and tangerine citrus. Within minutes, it smells like that woody chypre, similar to Polo Green with cedar. A few hours later, tobacco, leather, a touch of vanilla, and herbal spices appear. In the end, it continues with mentholated notes reminiscent of eucalyptus or cedar, always underpinned by that tobacco. The downside is that on my skin it lasts little, around three hours, and fades quickly. I apply it to thick wool jackets, and there it does last and project more than on the skin. Being a conservative style, I recommend it to men aged 25 to 60 or older. It is a good perfume, although its longevity and projection leave much to be desired.
