I agree with Wlad: it must be tested on skin. A friend gifted me a sample, and I hated it the first day when sprayed on blotting paper. Now, worn on my skin, I’ve fallen in love. To me, it’s a green rose, sharp with pepper. The musk cleanses any dirtiness from the leather that wraps it, giving it a very potent presence. The trail is moderate, lasting about eight hours, and after a shower, soft memories still linger. It’s a wonder, but it’s not for everyone. I don’t think you can buy it blindly. I have it on my list.
A distinct, dark, and challenging rose. The opening is clear: a rose wrapped in pepper, giving it an acidic and sparkling touch. It’s not the typical fresh, sugary, or soapy rose; here it transforms into something darker, accompanied by leather and incense that add character and depth. Important: this perfume must be tested on skin. It smells terrible on paper, but upon contact with the skin, it reveals its true essence. In my case, it becomes very woody and masculine, so much so that I can’t imagine it on a girl, though if someone enjoys its development, go ahead. It’s a challenging fragrance, not suitable for beginners. Maturity is needed to wear it, and above all, an appreciation for the rose note. If you meet those conditions, you’ll find a distinct and very enjoyable proposal. My rating: 9/10. A fragrance that defies the ordinary and rewards those seeking something different, with personality and character.
For me, the best Rose by Tom Ford. Much darker than Rose de Russie and more unisex. Perfect balance between all the notes and significantly better performance than recent launches. It goes far beyond the classic rose and leather combination.
