I just picked up a vintage bottle, almost identical to the photo, probably from the late 70s. Upon opening it, pure pepper and spices! I nearly regretted spraying myself (especially since the atomisers on these gems shoot the liquid like hairspray). Fortunately, the shock lasts only five minutes before the florals and woody musk arrive. Very rich, authentically vintage. Though with such pieces it’s hard to know if it was its original scent, as some notes fade and others emerge over the years. But if it was created in the late 30s, it must have been intensely powerful to compete with kitchen smells, office tobacco, leather, and wooden furniture… A fragrance that brutally shatters the glass of our deodorised modern times.
