  • Bought blind from Spain to complete my Born in Roma collection, and I was even more excited because it’s a special edition. To my nose, it smells identical to a Ralph’s Club EDT. This is my current opinion; I’ll compare it with a sample I have to confirm.

  • My wife gifted it to me at Christmas after I let her choose from several I had sprayed. It smells like fabric softener, but it works brilliantly; people ask what perfume I’m wearing so they can buy it. I use it for semi-formal or formal occasions, giving a clean and crisp impression.

  • My wife gifted it to me for Christmas. She chose it from several I let her smell. It’s a scent very similar to fabric softener, but it has worked very well for me, to the point that people have asked me what perfume I’m wearing to buy it. I use it for semi-formal to formal occasions; it’s clean and crisp.

Buy blind without hesitation. I got it at the Liverpool store (Mexico). It opens with a fresh aromatic note that quickly leads you to emulate the fabric softener scent directly; in short, that’s what it smells like. I think it’s a purchase solely intended for collectors of the Born in Roma line. Regarding its similarity to Ralph’s Club or MYSLF, I disagree; personally, I prefer the Valentino. If I had to rate the scent alone, it would be a 7/10: a scent that fulfils the requirement of smelling good, but in no way surprises you. In summary, it’s a ‘meh’; you don’t hate it, but you won’t love it either.

  • My wife gifted it to me. On the skin, it doesn’t smell so much like fabric softener; it has a potent citrus opening that quickly turns sweet, though I’m not sure what. It lasts 6-7 hours, projecting well for the first 2-3. Curiously, a woman walked into the office saying ‘something smells rich’, like banana body wash (haha, it doesn’t smell like banana). UPDATE: After a year and a half, the scent has improved significantly; the strong citrus opening is gone and it now lasts over 8 hours. On the skin, it’s a light sweetness, nothing cloying.

  • My wife just gifted it to me. On the skin, it doesn’t feel as similar to fabric softener to me; it has a potent citrus opening that almost immediately turns into a sweet aroma I can’t quite identify. It has a longevity of 6-7 hours, projecting for the first 2-3. Interesting fact: a woman enters the office and says ‘something smells very nice’, like banana body, haha (it doesn’t smell like banana at all). UPDATE: After a year and a half, I used it again and the aroma has improved considerably; the citrus opening isn’t as strong now and the longevity has increased to over eight hours. On the skin, it no longer smells like fabric softener; now it’s a light sweet scent, not cloying.

It smells very nice, but it’s true that the fabric softener scent is very noticeable. For that simple reason, I feel it might go unnoticed as a perfume. If you like crisp aromas, like clean laundry, it’s your fragrance.

It smells rich, but I agree the fabric softener note is very prominent. That’s why it might go unnoticed as a perfume. If you enjoy clean laundry scents, this is your fragrance.

I had the complete Born in Roma collection in front of me in a perfumery; I sprayed them all on blotting papers for over half an hour. This was the one I liked most of the three I chose to test on my skin… but it was a disappointment when it dried down: it picked up an unpleasant scent with my pH that instantly made me discard it. Something that didn’t happen with the BIR Intense; that one passed the test and I bought it. I’m not saying the BIR Rockstud Noir doesn’t smell good; on the contrary, on the blotter it was the one I liked most, but it doesn’t work with my skin, so I discarded it. If you have the opportunity, don’t buy blind and test first with your pH.

  • It feels fresh and pleasant, but its use is very specific: ideal straight after a shower if you’re staying in. Even if you shower at night, applying it the next morning gives a renewed sense of cleanliness. However, the scent doesn’t fully convince me; it reminds me of shower gel or fabric softener, which I find unappealing and annoying. I don’t see it as a fragrance with character, but rather as a generic hygiene smell. Honestly, I think it was a mistake buying this decant at the start of my hobby; I was swayed by a YouTube review that probably referred to another Valentino. Still, I hope to finish the 10 ml decant… and that it’s the last time I use it 😅. My final rating is 6.1 / 10.

  • It feels fresh and pleasant, but its ideal use is very specific: it works best straight after a shower and on a day at home, without going out or interacting with anyone. Even if you shower at night, applying it the next day conveys a sense of renewed cleanliness. However, the scent doesn’t fully convince me. To me, it smells too much like shower gel or fabric softener, something I personally find unattractive and even annoying. I don’t perceive it as a fragrance with character, but as a generic hygiene aroma. Sincerely, I think it was a mistake to buy this decant at the start of my hobby. I feel I was led astray by a YouTube review which, over time, I understood probably referred to a different Valentino. Nevertheless, I hope to finish the 10ml decant one day… and that it’s the last time I smell it 😅. My final rating is 6.1/10.

  • It reminds me of freshly cleaned public toilets in a shopping centre; that’s its peculiar aroma. I bought it blind, applied it, and my first compliment came from a friend who said: ‘Friend… you smell like public toilet cleaner’. I felt like a bath bomb… truly, a disappointment.

  • For those in Mexico, this fragrance smells like Suavitel mixed with floor cleaner. It’s not classist or from a bad person; literally, it smells too clean, like clean laundry, like a spotless hotel room. It smells very fresh and nice, lasting about seven hours on my skin with good projection. It earns compliments, but also ‘anti-compliments’. It’s excellent for heading to prep school or university and smelling like a ‘Las Lomas’ kid, haha. I feel there are better aromas, so I don’t recommend it.

A UNIQUE TASTE: I must admit, I didn’t buy this; I was given a sample and fell in love with it. I know it’s polarising, but not because it’s bad, simply due to personal preference. The opening is a bright citrus, a very pleasant bergamot (hence the comparisons to floor cleaner). Then it shifts into something citrusy/floral. The sage creates an incredible effect between the sparkling bergamot and the ambergris. Imagine walking into a luxury hotel room: upon opening the door, it smells citrusy and clean; you lie down and feel a soft floral aroma that relaxes you. You take a shower and return to bed; all those scents remain, but now you feel clean yourself, and the atmosphere is calm. I understand many won’t like it, but for me, it’s incredible, unique, and undeservedly hated. The longevity is brutal, around six hours without issue, with acceptable projection throughout, staying on the skin until the end (too good for a fresh scent). It’s super versatile: day, night, all seasons. I wore it to a formal dinner and received compliments, as well as in daily life where several people liked it. Although it’s hard to find, if you can get your hands on it, try it and decide for yourself. I guarantee you can take a wonderful surprise. Objectively my rating: Scent 9, Longevity 9, Projection 9, Total 9.

A sophisticated and modern masculine fragrance with a fresh yet characterful profile. It opens with citrus and aromatic notes that create a clean, vibrant sensation. As it evolves, subtle herbal and spicy nuances emerge, adding depth without losing its freshness. The amber base lends a warm, sophisticated touch, making it highly versatile. It conveys confidence, style, and urban elegance. It isn’t heavy, so it works brilliantly day or night for any occasion.

  • A PECULIAR TASTE I must admit I didn’t buy it; I was given a sample and loved it immensely. Reading reviews, yes, it’s polarising, but not because it’s bad, just due to personal tastes. The opening is a bright citrus, a very pleasant bergamot (hence why many compare it to floor cleaner). Then it shifts to something citrus/floral. The sage creates an incredible effect between the sparkling bergamot and the ambergris. Imagine walking into a luxury hotel room: opening the door hits you with a rich, clean citrus aroma; you approach the bed and feel a soft floral scent that relaxes you. You take a bath and return to bed; all those scents remain, leaving you feeling clean and in a calming environment. I understand why many dislike it, but for me, it’s incredible, unique, and unjustly hated. Its longevity is excellent, around 6 hours without issues, and the projection is acceptable throughout, staying skin-close until the 6-hour mark (very good for a fresh fragrance). It’s super versatile; I use it day and night, spring, summer, autumn, and winter. I wore it to a formal dinner and received many compliments, as well as in daily life where several people liked it. Although it’s hard to find, if you get your hands on it, try it and decide for yourselves; I assure you, you could be in for a wonderful surprise. Objectively, my rating would be: Scent: 9, Longevity: 9, Projection: 9, Total: 9.
