The resinous amber smells like an incredible bronzer; I’ve never smelled anything like it. It’s addictive and super sweet; I wouldn’t wear it myself, I have a decant and it’s enough just to smell it. It must last forever; one day I’ll wear it but it will be hard to find the right moment. I love it but it’s loaded with all the sweet and dense aspects of perfumery, very well blended.
It doesn’t go unnoticed; the sandalwood stands out with a balsamic aura that smells like cough syrup. It evolves with vanilla and subtle spices. It’s not innovative and it cloy me a bit, but it denotes class, maturity, and elegance. I see it as unisex, ideal for cold climates.
You spray Velvet Amber Sun and wonder why it isn’t in the regular range instead of luxury. You pay 180 euros for 50ml and something feels off. The notes envelop and seduce: fresh bergamot, sweet vanilla, floral ylang-ylang, woody amber, and resinous incense. As it warms, it reveals tonka and amber with spices and smoke, balanced and comfortable. Sometimes it reminds me of Lutens’ Ambre Sultan, sweeter and less rigid. Sweet but not cloying, it has two souls: warmth and creamy comfort that embraces you like a tailored suit. It’s a sensual red wine, ideal for cosy evenings. At first it dominates, then it adapts without being intrusive. A dream that proves D&G can do more if they break with the mainstream. Brilliant for stripes, deep and seductive. Pity it doesn’t last long on my skin. Try it if you like amber and it works for you, it’s worth saving up for.
Smells like sweet aged liquor with rich smoky notes. It’s not overpowering in the fresh phase, not a projector either, but leaves a trail that’s noticeable when you move.
