Descripción
Wavechild by Room 1015 is a fragrance from the olfactive family for men and women. Launched in 2024, this composition is signed by perfumer Jérôme di Marino. In its opening, mandarin, orange, and lemon (sour lime) unfold a vibrant citrus freshness. The heart reveals a juicy and tropical combination of watermelon and coconut, while the base settles on a warm and woody foundation of ambergris, Amberwood, and cacao.

I received this as a sample and initially thought it might be a waste of money, but I absolutely loved it. It doesn’t evolve much or have complex nuances; it smells like delicious watermelon at its peak ripeness, with a hint of citrus and coconut. What stands out most is undoubtedly the watermelon. It leaves me feeling super relaxed. It lasts gently on the skin. I’m not sure if it’s worth the price just for smelling like watermelon, but it’s high quality and nothing synthetic. P.S.: If anyone knows of something that smells similar but cheaper, please let me know.
I had all my expectations set. If you’re looking for watermelon, it’s for you, but if you can’t handle its evolution with marine and aquatic touches that might give an egg-like sensation (like Divine by J.P. Gaultier), it’s not for you. Take this into account. The dry down is delicious: I sense watermelon, a touch of cacao and ambergris, very tasty. But I couldn’t cope with that marine sensation I mentioned.
I took months to decide because 80% of the reviews were from women 😅. I bought it blindly for $135. On my skin, it opens with a rich watermelon and sharp citrus, giving that Jolly Rancher watermelon caramel sensation. In the first two hours, the citrus fades and the sweet watermelon remains, slightly synthetic due to that caramel resemblance, but not cloying thanks to an almost imperceptible marine vibe that adds freshness, perhaps from the ambergris. At 3-4 hours, the coconut emerges: creamy, neutral, like Dove soap mixed with natural coconut, neither sweet nor tropical, more beachy. This creamy coconut dominates, though the watermelon lingers in the background, and when I move, I feel ‘bursts’ where the watermelon highlights again. At 5-6 hours, the watermelon fades and the coconut remains in your bubble. On clothes, however, the sweet citrusy watermelon vibe projects well for 2-3 hours after the citrus drops, lasting up to 8 hours. I consider it unisex, but due to the sweet resemblance, I recommend decanting before buying the full bottle.

Coconut predominates, but watermelon reappears in bursts with movement. By 5-6 hours, it’s declining, leaving only coconut in your personal bubble. My childhood is from the 90s and I loved this fragrance for taking me back to my youth. It reminds me of Tico Tico watermelon gums. Yes, the watermelon is synthetic, but the overall effect is refreshing, summery, jovial and full of light. It smells wonderful. You can detect coconut water and citrus, but the watermelon is there from start to finish. Although it seems feminine at first, with wear it feels unisex and perfect for men in informal summer settings. A good alternative if you’re not a fan of citrus in the heat.
It’s a melon gum from my childhood. The definition of summer: fresh, comforting, invigorating, fruity… it’s playful. It transports me back to my twenties in Menorca, choosing my swimsuit, when life smelled of watermelon mojitos and sun cream… it’s photorealistic. It smells strongly of watermelon (or melon, I can’t tell the difference), like a sweet gum. Longevity and sillage are moderate, though the first two hours the sillage is strong. More feminine, because in the 90s that’s how girls smelled (guys, under the arm, haha). Unisex-feminine, youthful. Zero versatility, it’s for summer and everyday wear, very informal. Scent: 7.5, Longevity: 6, Sillage: 6, Price: €150 (100ml).

Wavechild was a love at first sniff. It has a watery, juicy character from the citrus and the star watermelon, but also creaminess from the woods and a coconut that adds body without taking centre stage. It’s fruity but not cloying, fresh yet substantial. Noticeable yet light, ideal for summer. Totally unisex if you like fruity scents. Longevity exceeds 8 hours with moderate projection. I absolutely loved it.
A wonderful fruity perfume that receives 100% compliments. Yes, it’s unisex, but it leans heavily towards feminine. Be careful.
Exquisite synthetic watermelon gum (it’s fine to stop denouncing the artificial, let’s end the naturalist fallacy!), coconut juice and sea salt after a good day. Three very balanced notes, decent longevity and a delicate sillage, nothing suffocating: what you need when it’s over 30°C. I usually hate summer perfumes (citrus, fresh, Ibiza vibes), but this Wavechild has won me over. I don’t think I’ll go from the 2ml sample to the full bottle, but it’s fun and original.
Exquisite synthetic watermelon, bubblegum, coconut juice, and beach salt. Three well-balanced notes with decent longevity and a delicate trail: exactly what you need when it’s over 30°C. I hate the citrus and Ibiza vibe, but this Wavechild has grown on me. I’m not moving from the 2ml sample to a full bottle, but it’s fun and original.
I use it almost exclusively in summer, during the day and near the beach. It smells nice, but it’s not my style. It feels youthful, informal, and packed with watermelon and coconut. I can’t see a moment to wear it. Perhaps due to experience, but it has no place in my daily life. Understandable that it has fans, but to me, it’s like listening to a Smurfs soundtrack.
Bought blind with no regrets, although I expected something fresher. It starts with Jolly Rancher-style watermelon, but as it dries down, a sweet, slightly salty and musky coconut takes over, though the watermelon is still noticeable.
Despite all the hype on social media, this didn’t blow my mind. It smells of synthetic watermelon and creamy coconut with just a hint of aquatic notes. It’s very beachy, unisex and youthful, but doesn’t revolutionise anything. It could be any of those summer fast-fashion perfumes. I understand why young people receive compliments in the summer as few wear watermelon, but there are better options, and 50ml for nearly £100 is expensive.
