Creation 1984 by Ted Lapidus

A classic that brings memories of other decades straight to your nose; while some might find it outdated, it sounds precious to me. It’s a bookish floral-chypre much more amiable than its peers. It has so many notes it’s hard to describe, but for me, the protagonists are the ylang-ylang that sweetens the flowers, the honey that envelops it, the ripe fruits, and the oakmoss that gives it that special character. It has a notable trail and lasts between 7 and 8 hours. How beautiful it is to wear Creation and remember so many women in my life who used these fragrances when they were the height of fashion! Creation 1984 by Ted Lapidus is a good example of an 80s floral, although I would classify it as a floral-chypre given its heavy load of flowers, moss, and patchouli. The honey is very evident and lovely; it reminds me of the style of Coco Chanel.

I love this perfume; I used it in my youth and it brings precious memories back. It’s potent, characterful, and magical, with a very good price and extraordinary quality. The trail and fixation on skin and clothes are luxurious, and its longevity is unique. It has never been missing from my collection; it’s my favourite perfume!

Creation by Lapidus brings me a lot of joy and positivity, something vital. On my skin, with its age, the fruit is subtle, but its narcotic opening of fermented mango and papaya is a special potion, strong and characterful from the start. What shines is the galbanum and the narcissus: a life-filled potency from the 80s that sets perfectly today when many perfumes fall flat. It’s like running happily through a field of flowers in full summer, with the sun and fields of flowering rapeseed that leave you dry from the intensity. Very potent, cheerful, and true to its time, but it maintains elegance thanks to the carnation and neroli that moderate the galbanum. I recommend it at all costs: it’s a jewel to collect, even at accessible prices and it stands the test of time. Although it’s my favourite, try it first because it screams the 80s; look for miniatures second-hand. I’m considering the current version, which on my skin goes to honey and moss, darker and less summery, but it’s still an excellent chypre for its value for money.

A winter fetish I’ve been wearing for years that sticks to my skin like a plaster. The longevity is brutal, lasting all day with a trail you won’t forget. Yes, it’s potent as the forums say, so I always recommend testing before buying. Unlike the Montana or Giorgio, which I hated, here I went crazy. What strikes me most is the passion fruit, blackcurrants, a touch of mandarin, peach, bergamot, and neroli; the jasmine, ylang-ylang, and lily are my must-haves because I always like them, plus the lily root. The base of sandalwood, patchouli, musk, and vetiver is what gives it that iron-like persistence. I don’t detect vanilla or amber, but in the end, everyone smells it differently, and here the longevity is guaranteed.

I had this lotion because my best friend gave it to me when I turned 18… in my opinion, it’s a strong perfume and I would recommend it for older women. I had it because it was a gift, but I really didn’t like it because it was truly very strong. I agree that two applications are more than enough so as not to make the person next to you dizzy… My recommendation is that if you want to buy it, go to your store to perceive the scent and make your decision… Best wishes!

This is a very pleasant perfume, definitely 80s in its opulence and intensity. Despite its age and surely several reformulations, it doesn’t feel ‘old’, although due to its atomic bomb trail you must be very careful not to overapply; one or two sprays are enough or you can make others dizzy and bother sensitive noses. It’s very floral and sweet, but of the sweet from before, not cloying, with heaps of ingredients that make it hard to distinguish them separately at the start and in the heart notes, but which form a harmonious and feminine whole. What predominates from start to finish is the cedar; it’s one of the feminine scents I’ve smelled with the greatest presence and intensity of this note, bordering on excess. So if you don’t like cedar, better not to try it, it can be too much. Personally I’m not fascinated by this note, so it cost me to accept its protagonism, as I also fix it a lot and feel it almost bitter or animalic. It’s so intense that I confused it at first with civet; I realised that with just one spray well distributed over the whole body it’s enough for this note to drop and become tolerable. It’s worth getting used to due to the beauty of the fragrance. It lasts a long time, more than 12 hours. You can feel the quality of its ingredients despite its low price; I think it’s an undervalued fragrance, very well made but not as popular because in its time it had many unbeatable rivals and now tastes have changed a lot and such intensity is no longer ‘used’. It’s from an era when perfumes were perfumes and made themselves noticed, not sugary, cloying, synthetic fruit-floral waters that come out every minute and all look the same. It’s for temperate or cold weather, for many occasions, from work to some semi-formal or evening event. Not suitable for young girls, it requires some character to use and falls within the classic without reaching ‘vintage’. I recommend it for people who suffer because perfumes don’t last on them. This one will surely last and meet their expectations. It’s one of the few that are worth more than they cost.

This perfume is exquisite and very long-lasting. When I use it, I don’t go unnoticed; I leave a trail of charming and youthful scent, I feel full of energy, and its aroma makes me feel special.
