The fifth fragrance in the set, continuing the brand’s ‘curiosities’ theme. The opening is very volatile and fresh, with a sharp burst of vivid mint that’s almost like mouthwash but not overpowering; soon fennel embraces it, adding sweetness. This fennel is realistic, as if you were holding a sprig in your mouth while walking through the countryside. After an hour and a half, the freshness fades, leaving a soft floral and creamy musk close to the skin. Projection is low. Visually, it feels fresh and clean, transporting me to a Mediterranean stroll among fennel bushes on a crisp day. In English, they say it smells like toothpaste; I understand the reference but I’m not entirely convinced. It’s youthful and relaxed for warm weather. I like it, but as with the previous ones, I don’t see the price justified unless it’s for a very specific profile. EXPANSION: Worn at work one day, it’s fennel with a mentholated twist and nothing else. I don’t notice any evolution. It’s pleasant, and if it cost €30 instead of €155 for 87ml, I’d buy it. I confess I haven’t had much luck with Shyamala Maisondieu: they’re pleasant but don’t evoke any special feeling in me. The longevity is almost that of a cologne.
