  • Hypnotic Poison EDT was my signature scent from the age of 17, and I stopped wearing it when I went to replenish my supply and saw they had changed the formula. Having known the old version, the Zara one seems very similar. However, the original was a blend where no single note stood out above the others. In the Zara version, the super-sweet vanilla takes centre stage.

  • It’s very difficult to find a vanilla remotely similar to the Dior, but this Zara perfume comes very close; it’s very much like Hypnotic Poison. I liked it very much; for the price, it’s worth it a great deal. Would I buy it again? Yes, without any doubt.

  • MADMOISELLE PERFUME

I own Dior’s Hypnotic Poison and can assure you the fragrance is identical. This is my fourth bottle from the Chapters collections, which are ‘inspired’ by other perfumes: Golden Decade (Libre by YSL), Red Temptation (Baccarat Rouge), Bohemian Oud (By the Fireplace), and now Hypnotic Vanilla. I have some of the originals alongside the Zara versions, and they are identical, even with better longevity and sillage. I just need Zara to make a dupe of Killian’s Angel’s Share next 😅

  • It’s a brilliant perfume, and yes, it’s clear it clones Dior’s Hypnotic Poison in a brazen way… I need to give it more chances to comment on longevity and sillage, but I already know for sure that I need to own the big bottle of this one. It’s super sweet and sensual… and within the collection, it’s the one that will appeal to the most people because the others are more niche.

  • It seemed wonderful to me. Last year, I wanted to replenish my Dior Hypnotic Poison EDT. I had used up a bottle of the first formula and missed it terribly… but after trying the reformulation, with all the heartache in the world, I left it in the store because neither the longevity nor the sillage were the same. It had lost all its power and magic. Today I tried this Hypnotic Vanilla without too many expectations and it thrilled me. Despite having a cold, I can smell it very well. I bought it without hesitation. It reminded me a bit of the discontinued Hypnotic Poison Sensuelle, which was more vanilla and creamy than the EDT. I’m liking it very much.

  • From the name alone, just seeing it on the Zara website made me guess where it would go. And indeed, it’s a very well-executed clone of Dior’s Hypnotic Poison; I’ve left a reel with several alternatives to this DNA. The longevity is over 7 hours very close to the skin, but it projects well for 2-3 hours, and you’ll notice it if people come close; it doesn’t invade space at all, nor does the Dior. This vanilla saga is very well thought out, but you don’t need to own all four; in fact, two are a little more masculine; try them before buying because the initial spray is nothing like the dry-down.

  • Dama Incognita

To me, this Zara perfume is just a distant vanilla-and-caramel relative of Hypnotic Poison; its performance on my skin is very weak. True, the latest Dior has been reformulated and doesn’t resemble the version from years ago that I knew, but they are still different. I’m testing both at the same time on each wrist: the current Dior is a soft, talc-like vanilla, and you can also sense the almond and coconut notes. In contrast, the Zara one is very diluted and slightly sweet from the caramel, nothing more. It’s not unpleasant, but I prefer Hypnotic Poison. Of course, all perceptions are different and all comments are valid, but this is my opinion.

  • It captivated me in every way. I don’t find it as sweet as the original Dior, which smells more like a lollipop or caramel. Although the composition doesn’t list rose, I detect a touch of red roses. It has little sillage but lasts quite a while close to the skin. It’s soft, unassuming, and makes you feel comfortable. I like it very much; it’s suitable for evening or formal events, but breaking the mould, it’s nothing serious or prim.

I went to Zara looking for Supreme Vanilla because they said it was similar to Kayali’s Vanilla 28. As I absolutely adore that scent, I had to try it. The truth is, Supreme Vanilla doesn’t resemble the 28. It has a similar vibe, but it doesn’t compare. I decided to smell the rest of the collection and came across this brazen copy of Dior’s Hypnotic Poison. I’ve had the original for some time and can assure you it’s practically an identical clone, although it is less sweet than the Dior, where the caramel note is more prominent. Fantastic work, I loved it.

  • Yes, it’s Hypnotic Poison. If you like the original but don’t want to splash out a fortune, it’s a good everyday dupe. It carries more notes than the label suggests, but it does its job.

  • If the original smells like plasticine, this doesn’t even reach that, but it does smell synthetic. The opening is very alcoholic and tickles the nose, whereas in the original that plum and coconut combination seem like liquorice and already enchant you. Longevity is fantastic, on clothes it lasts until the wash. Is it worth it? In my opinion it’s a good low-cost dupe if you don’t have the original to compare. I’d give it 70% similarity, but it’s very synthetic… although I’m keeping it 🤭😅

When I read that people were comparing this perfume with Hypnotic Poison, I ran to Zara. Hypnotic Poison and Poison Girl are my signature perfumes, I always restock them, so I know the notes as the palm of my hand and this Zara one has nothing to do with Hypnotic Poison. The Zara one seems very unisex, whereas the Dior one is feminine and sensual; the key is the INCOMPARABLE almond note of Dior, I’d recognise it among all. Hypnotic Poison has very characteristic notes and the Zara one might resemble it a little in the dry-down, but it’s not a dupe or copy at all. Still, if you want a ‘dark’ vanilla that’s not too cloying, for evening and with a unisex touch, you’ll love it. Longevity is good, about six hours on skin. It doesn’t leave much trail but it is felt close to the skin.

  • I tried it a few days ago at Zara and, strangely, it smells very similar to Kenzo Amour (which I own), just with a less sweet vanilla. After all, it’s Kenzo, it lasts quite a while, at least six hours on me. It’s not very sweet (I don’t feel caramel on my skin) and it’s a cleaner vanilla.

  • It’s an earthy and floral vanilla. I don’t know Hypnotic Poison so I don’t know, but I do know Kenzo Amour and it doesn’t seem similar to me at all. In fact, if you didn’t see them compared here, I’d never think they resembled each other. It’s a vanilla with an acidic and earthy touch, I imagine due to the moss. In Chile only Supreme and Hypnotic have arrived and both have their differences. I hope their sister versions arrive soon. Ideal for layering. I’m not sure about longevity as I reapply at lunch, but I’d say about seven hours on skin; before reapplying I can still smell it. A feminine vanilla. I don’t know if it’s for men or if it’s because I don’t like sweet scents on men.

  • I tried this perfume and loved it. It’s a not-so-sweet vanilla, as the floral notes also take centre stage. I see it as very versatile, in no way cloying, and although they say it’s unisex, I see it as much more feminine. The trail and longevity are very good.

  • It’s a copy of Hypnotic Poison, though not exact. It’s darker than the original, less cloying, but more interesting. The imitation of the initial jasmine is well executed, the vanilla exudes sensuality and has a well-constructed heart, nothing cloying. The scents respect each other and blend uniformly. People have asked me several times what dessert smells so delicious. At first it tickles the nose, as if it had pepper (moss), but it smells wonderfully, more intense than the Dior one, which is why I think it lasts longer. I also associate it with tobacco, not cigarettes, perhaps due to that smoky sensation at the start. It conveys a dark, hypnotic woman’s essence: femme fatale. Excellent price/quality. Lasts quite a while and on clothes it lasts until the wash.

  • Laumolina95

I need someone to clear up a doubt for me: I tried it once, on both forearms, and it smelled VERY smoky, too much. Will it be that the sample was expired or is that indeed the aroma? Thanks.

  • Lulu_hypnotic

It’s very similar to Hypnotic Poison, but if you’re a total fan, it’s not the same: it has a woody note that differentiates it and makes it identical to Estée Lauder’s Aerin Tangier Vanille. If you like these perfumes, it’s a safe purchase. It doesn’t last long on my skin, but it smells expensive and super warm.

  • This was love at first sniff. Just smelling it and I knew it would be my new signature scent. I tend towards buttery vanillas, very ‘teenage’, my usual perfumes are youthful and I was looking for something more elegant and classy. I went to Zara for dupes and this one, along with Fields at Nightfall, became my new purchases. Hypnotic Vanilla is the Zara one with better projection and longevity on my skin; I love it, those scent bursts are sexy, I can’t see the note but I smell almond. It’s a dark vanilla. Definitely loved it.

  • Didn’t like it, what a pity. Tried it at Zara today and after three hours it’s still there. Perhaps the floral notes do something odd on my skin: the vanilla gets almost buried by something dusty and bitter. I did like the other vanilla (Supreme).

  • ElviraOh

If instead of this you buy a jar of alcohol or antibacterial from the supermarket… it would be the same! Don’t waste your money on this ethyl fusion…

  • I have mixed feelings. It seems like a dark, sexy vanilla, very much a winter scent. It brings to mind an elegant, made-up woman. However, over time a smoky scent arrives, like clothes after being in a house with a fireplace for a while. It’s not unpleasant but it doesn’t passion me either. I only tried it in-store and I think, for now, I won’t buy it. I applied it 6 hours ago and it remains somewhat close to the skin, moderate longevity.

  • First impressions: cold weather. I sense vanilla, jasmine and moss. I don’t sense caramel; on my skin it’s drier, nothing sweet. For now I sense it very close to the skin, it doesn’t project. I’ll try it in other climates and give it more time because with Zara perfumes they sometimes cling to the skin and that’s when they match. For now it’s not happening, what a pity because I was expecting it so much. Edit: It performs much better in warm climates, projects, lasts and you can feel the caramel. I even like it more than Hypnotic Poison. I would buy it again.

  • Wearing it, people have literally told me I smell like a Marie biscuit hahaha. For me it’s pleasant although I’m not enthusiastic about the opening, which I find overwhelming and harsh. Fortunately the dry-down with a biscuit scent is very pleasant and lasts long enough, about 4 or 5 hours, what’s expected for a Zara perfume.

  • IvonneGarSo

I went to Zara for the Golden Decade (my Fearless from Miniso broke, which was a good dupe for Libre d’YSL) and the Hypnotic Vanilla pulled me in immediately. I love that unisex sweet scent without being cloying, flirty and dark. Despite having a strong sillage, it lasts about 5 hours without reapplying (behind the ears, neck and cleavage). I love it!

  • At first it smells of alcohol, synthetic. But once it settles on the skin it smells delicious; I sense strong vanilla with hints of cherry (odd because it’s not in the notes). Then jasmine and moss appear in the base. On my skin it lasts about 3 hours in the office; certainly it’s for cold days and evenings, very sweet and heavy for summer. In warm weather its longevity is greater.

  • nataliedrm

Not a 100% dupe of Hypnotic Poison, or a light echo of Scandal by JPG; soft, powdery vanilla, enjoyable in winter. The pity, as always, is the non-existent longevity of Zara fragrances.

  • It has become one of my favourite fragrances from the very first moment. It’s a very captivating and elegant vanilla, it smells unique, with a dark touch of moss that creates an addictive combination. I use it regularly and would buy it again.

  • I’ve found the perfect dupe for the Kenzo Amour Indian Holi which is no longer sold!!!! I wish it lasted longer, but for the price, I have no complaints.

  • It’s a clear inspiration for Hypnotic Poison or Poison Girl. Soft, powdery vanilla. It doesn’t disgust me, but I wouldn’t buy it; perhaps in a 10ml miniature.

  • Finally!! I used Kenzo Amour a long time ago and I love it, but it’s hard to find now and usually expensive. I looked for dupes on TikTok but it was impossible; in fact, regarding Zara’s Hypnotic Vanilla, I only found reviews comparing it to Hypnotic Poison (even in the name). What a surprise when I bought it: upon drying down (not at the start, which is quite alcoholic) it is exactly Kenzo Amour, just softened and a bit less spicy. I perceive an elegant, powdery vanilla, with a discreet caramel, forming a sweet perfume without being cloying. For now, it lasts about 3/4 hours, a bit more on clothes, with quite a sillage (I can smell it on myself). Happy with this discovery.

  • At the moment, I’m testing and comparing Zara’s Hypnotic Vanilla on one arm and Ariana’s Mod Vanilla on the other. For me and those I ask to compare, they smell the same; I don’t perceive any differences.

  • Smells exactly like JHAG’s Mmmm…, a perfume I don’t like because it’s sweet and flat, vanilla and caramel from start to finish. I discovered it because I was gifted a discovery set and upon smelling it, I thought of Mmmm; even the longevity is similar, it lasts little (fortunately because I don’t like it).

  • nachiiiii

A synthetic vanilla. Smells like the dolls that used to come with perfume. I can’t tolerate the scent. Had to give it away 🙁

  • I’m in love. It’s warm, elegant, and seductive. Its resemblance to Hypnotic Poison is notable. With the price and longevity of Dior, I’m 100% sticking with this. On my skin, it lasts over 8 hours and longer on clothes. Besides, the dry down is delicious. A 10/10 and I’ll buy again.

  • Zara’s Hypnotic Vanilla is for vanilla lovers but with a different twist. It combines the warmth of Bourbon vanilla and caramel with the softness of jasmine and apricot blossom, giving it a very subtle floral and fruity note. The moss in the base adds an earthy undertone, making it less cloying. Ideal for autumn and winter, perfect for daily wear or a casual afternoon plan. It’s versatile, suitable for going to class, work, or a coffee with friends. For a calm and cheerful person looking for something sweet, comforting, and easy to wear.

  • veronica.pgd

Spectacular! My all-time favourite is Dior’s Hypnotic Poison and this Zara one imitates it quite well. The caramel, vanilla, and jasmine substitute the Dior blend nicely. It seems like a mix between HP and Scandal Le Parfum. Already a regular purchase to smell incredible without spending; ideal for layering or wearing alone. The performance is good: decent longevity and projection, doesn’t smell like alcohol like other Zara scents. Of course, it doesn’t last as long as an expensive one, but on clothes it does; I have items from the previous day that still smell. I love it, excellent price, and worth getting a decant.

  • Lucianolococo

To the point: uff, one of my favourites. The performance is insane; it projects and lasts over 10 hours on skin, and forget about clothes. It gets compliments and is super economical, highly recommended.

  • Doesn’t smell like any Poison or Kenzo Amour. It’s a rare, unisex fragrance that seems to last, but the sillage is low and it dries down to ash. Not for me.

  • thesongofhecate

Wanted to see the fuss and check if it resembled Dior’s Hypnotic Poison, but honestly, it has nothing to do with it. Not that it’s bad; I adore Zara’s vanillas, but this smells too generic to add to my wishlist.
