It’s a bit of a struggle with my dry, floral preference, but as rain approaches in my arid climate, I reach for it more often because the subtle, tender flower really shines through, wrapped perfectly by the vanilla. With its oily base, it becomes delightful with a slight chill and humidity, making it ideal for my dry skin. It works for day, but its magic and that mystical ‘cloud’ aspect make it perfect for evening and deeply relaxing. It is elegant.

  2. It reminds me of the Milk body spray from Bath & Body Works: it smells like sweet milk, and in dry-down a lovely woody note emerges. Little sillage and longevity in my case. Edit: now it smells entirely like the perfumed head of Barbie.

This is the second flanker of Hypnotic Vanilla; I own the two predecessors and still stick with the original. This sits between them: sweet vanilla with a floral touch, less sweet than the original (no caramel) and less floral than Bloom. It’s a ‘fluffy’, cottony, sweet and tender fragrance, perfect for day and spring/autumn. It’s soft, light, informal and youthful. Its distinguishing note is the clouds (bonbons, marshmallows), a sweetness distinct from caramel. It hasn’t convinced me to buy it: it’s too soft, with poor longevity and a weak sillage, lasting no more than three hours like Bloom. If you’re undecided between the three, it’s a good option: if you like florals, choose Bloom; if you prefer intense sweet gourmand, go for the original.
