Louis Vuitton Rhapsody plays with the valley lily, that controversial ingredient which loses much of its scent when distilled, so perfumers had to combine elements to mimic it. To my nose, upon opening, the valley lily is very prominent, though not the only note; I detect synthetic oakmoss that is remarkably well-crafted given the constraints, white rose blooming with energy, jasmine, and that yerba mate that dominates the first twenty minutes. After those twenty minutes, the level of perfumery and ingredient quality from LV becomes apparent; although it is light, the potency of the components justifies the price of this extract. It reminds me of classic seventies fragrances, but updated for today, modern without losing their roots. As it dries down, the lily and rose remain, along with the jasmine, and an earthy patchouli/vetiver emerges, making it more unisex. Sometimes, with a breeze, it smells of tropical coconut, perhaps a detail overlooked on the website. Upon smelling it, I see pure white, flowers and plants in a forest, with that purity intact. It is unisex, but it leans more feminine to me due to that powdery and floral touch. It is perfect with a white dress at elegant events under the sun, or freely worn in any season and part of the day. Its longevity, projection, and sillage are magnificent for an extract, fulfilling its aim to last all day. Being a collaboration with Frank Gehry, it is the most expensive collection in the line; in my view, the price is excessive and suffocates the profits of this divine elixir, seeking only the exclusivity of a piece by a famous designer. In summary, I highly recommend it to lovers of exclusive fragrances, white floral profiles, and those who are not disappointed by its performance. It is worth smelling these creations, often overshadowed by the popularity of other hits such as Ombré Nomade and L’Immensite.
