Oud bathed in milk.

Much less lactonic than one might expect from a perfume with that name and those notes. It may have a distant air of milk, but I’d say this is gourmand wood. I like it for being at home in winter; it feels comforting.

It was a blind purchase because it said it smelled different and looked pretty. To be honest, I’m not a fan of milky scents, but this is the exception. I like that it’s sweet and soft, with a woody base that balances the sweetness so it doesn’t become cloying. It reminds me of the Ponyo movie, when the children drink milk warmed with honey and cinnamon; I imagine smelling that drink and this fragrance comes to mind. I recommend it for day and night, in cold or crisp days, but avoid it in intense heat as it may feel heavy.

You can tell the quality of its ingredients, and on me it has a longevity of about six hours with low projection. It doesn’t resemble Zara’s Red Temptation & Vanille. Finally I found how to describe this fragrance: it smells of baby vomit. But of mother’s milk vomit, sweet and slightly acidic. It sounds disgusting but I struggle to think anyone would dislike the smell of a baby drinking milk. I LOVE IT.

I tried it as a sample and at first it smells of condensed milk, yet without being cloying. How can it be a daily wear? The secret lies in the dry-down: it becomes sweet, woody, with a powdery-attar touch. Imagine opening a bag of chocolates and placing them over a flame without smoke; that’s the scent. To me, it’s entirely feminine and winter-appropriate, ideal for staying at home or intimate gatherings. It would suit a grandmother or someone delicate who bakes cookies in the dead of winter perfectly.

Although it may seem obvious, if you love milky notes, this is your perfume. It opens with pure, creamy, sweet milk, an absolute and hyper-realistic protagonist. It was a total surprise; I’d never smelled anything like it, yet it doesn’t come across as jarring; it wears well even though it smells like a glass of hot milk. After a few minutes, the milk blends with a woody and slightly smoky base, transforming into a cloud of slowly toasting marshmallows. That part is my favourite: exquisite, cosy, and comforting. It’s not for drawing attention nor necessarily sexy, but an intimate, mysterious, and captivating scent, like an enhanced second skin. It has earned compliments from both men and women. In my opinion, it’s 100% unisex. Projection is moderate for the first two hours, then an intimate trail with notable longevity of about six hours. I know it could be better, but it’s not bad. In short: I love it and I’m getting a bottle.
