I reckon the 1956 original must have been a beast, because this one, while sometimes a bit muffled, is still a cracker on the skin. It has many facets, with a neat progression at certain points, but if you give it a chance, the sensuality of its development hooks you: rich velvety notes with an alcoholic touch of benzoin and vanilla, balanced by patchouli, leather, moss and vetiver spices. Visa gets you because it is: sumptuous, multi-coloured and ever-changing. The notes intertwine, loving and dragging each other along. The peach has ripened in the must, a sweet leather wraps around a fairy-tale rose dampened with orange blossom dew, the jasmines are top notes and the orange is candied, ready to bite. It’s a magnificent perfume, good longevity and a soft-medium trail, modern yet with a classic soul that I adore. Well done, if you like dusty, sweet and makeup-like scents, this is for you.
