Descripción
Aqva Pour Homme Toniq by Bvlgari is an aromatic aquatic fragrance for men. Launched in 2011, this composition was created by perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. In its opening, the scent unfolds a vibrant Amalfi lemon alongside fresh mint. The heart of the fragrance reveals the complexity of marine algae and aquatic notes that evoke the Mediterranean breeze. To finish, the trail settles on a base of vetiver and amber, adding warmth and depth to the whole.

Aqva Pour Homme Toniq is undoubtedly my favourite of the entire series. It has an explosive opening where the lime-mint accord gives very vigorous sensations; the tonic concept stands solid and well placed. It smells like aged vodka mixed with Vick VapoRub, that ‘frozen water’ accord mentioned in other forums, and reminds me hugely of the heart of Z Zegna Extreme (now discontinued). In the mid-notes there are green notes of sweet vetiver mixed with amber. Here I must hail Mr Cavalier, because he has achieved a true evolution of traditional Acqua, managing a great interplay between the classic algal note and this fresh, citrusy and mentholated version. It’s designed for hot days, giving that refreshing and tonic sensation of post-shower cleanliness very much in the Bvlgari style, landing in a traditional Acqua that is less salty with a very modern Mediterranean aura. And if that weren’t enough, the bottle is beautiful.
I rarely leave bad reviews; if I don’t like something I don’t even rate it, but this fragrance I love and yet gives me a repulsive sensation, just like others. Despite being one of the most enduring aquatics of its time, something in its composition smells like raw egg white. The perfumerie manager warned me about it (and I bought it anyway), and several colleagues, a friend and my partner noticed the same thing, like when you crack a fresh egg or use raw egg white in homemade cosmetics. I also sensed it in Bvlgari Aqua Amara. Perhaps it’s the signature of the Acqua line, but in my opinion it ruins one of the best-performing aquatics on the market, too bad…
For me, simply exquisite. It has first-class projection and longevity. It’s the best in the Acqua line: smells like melon or watermelon, delicious. It doesn’t change much, it’s linear, but that’s why it’s fresh, pleasant and tasty all at once.
