A blend of super-sweet vanillas with anise that literally swallows the jasmine or any other note mixed in. With nearly ten years sealed in its bottle (I used it very little), it seems to have densified and concentrated its sweetness. A warm, dark fruity syrup resembles edible vanilla. Of all the Hypnotics, Sensuelle was the richest for me. This fragrance doesn’t feel hypnotic to me but rather like a pastry shop treat.
Today I felt like wearing it all day and it didn’t disappoint. It’s wonderful, very creamy and sweet with vanilla; on my skin the anise and licorice are barely noticeable, but they add a much softer sweetness than the original HP, which comes out more bitter to me. In the dry down I detect jasmine, vanillin, and a smoky touch. It’s super sensual, very soft, and nothing heavy; I just use one spray on each side of my neck and another on my cleavage. I recommend it to all lovers of oriental scents; for me, it’s a masterpiece. It’s discontinued, just like the Elixir of Pure Poison, what a shame. I hope Dior has pity and brings it back to market.
