What a piece of Amouage! Attars, those perfumed oils so deeply rooted in Eastern culture, have become an obligatory ritual before visiting a temple or attending a grand wedding. Many wear them layered to create something more complex on the skin. This one features the Hojari incense, a treasure for Amouage and part of its DNA. In Incense Rori, that precious resin translates into a polished, realistic, and exuberant scent. It radiates a smoky brilliance with touches of amber and a precise spiciness. It is surrounded by an impeccable aura of oakmoss, lending it earthiness and darkness. The woods, particularly the cedar, take on greater importance as the fragrance settles on the skin. Attars are typically aromatically rich and concentrated, lasting a long time but sometimes projecting little; here, it projects quite well. I know I can’t quite imagine it, as it is 12 ml for over $500, but it is worth trying. It has so many nuances, constantly changing, with notes that pulse and move as if alive. It softens like silk over time. As an incense fanatic, it is a beauty, and I encourage those who love it as much as I do to give it a try.
