J’adore L’Or (2023) by Dior

Smelling this is like wearing a luxury cream on the skin. The trail and longevity are on another level; I’ll definitely be buying the full bottle when I finish this decant.

Floral perfumes are my favourites. This is like making a bad floral from the past and adding thirty years to what you already have 🫩🫩

It was love at first sniff, an instant spark. But I didn’t use it immediately; I let it rest. Not out of forgetfulness, but with the faith that desire matures in waiting. Some perfumes shout, while others, like this one, need to be unwrapped slowly, like a dangerous gift. J’adore L’Or (2023) doesn’t shout; it whispers. It envelops you in white flowers like freshly made sheets, but underneath there’s something more: a creamy, intimate, and buttery heartbeat. There’s a fruit not listed on the bottle, perhaps a banana, which appears on the skin like a wet confidant. It’s a perfume you don’t wear; it settles. It lets itself be felt like a brush against the nape of the neck. It is floral, yes, but also voluptuous, sunny yet shadowed, neat yet with desire. I used it, I fell in love, and I kept it. When I returned, it wasn’t the same, or perhaps it was me, ready to let myself be inhabited by its quiet power. I know the creator understood seduction: that kind that doesn’t need to be loud to stay and live.

It’s a super feminine perfume; I use it regularly because I simply love the scent.

It’s a perfume for going to work, having lunch, or attending a meeting. Its scent reminds one of the typical perfume for a young, elegant woman. I don’t see it as appropriate for more intense occasions like a party. When I spray it, it smells to me like an older lady with a handkerchief and elegant glasses. As time passes, it smells richer and more interesting to me. I wouldn’t recommend buying it blindly; it can result in being boring or too traditional for people who aren’t fans of the rose, as it stands out above the white flowers.

It is a neat and elegant fragrance, perfect for well-dressed ladies. I have received many compliments from men.

I 💔 It is a Red Door Intense, I went with high expectations and it was a great disappointment. I thought it would live up to its name, because if there is one thing I like about Dior, it is that it smells of gold. It may not be my favourite perfume, but when it is Dior, it smells like Dior and this time, even with that baptism, it did not deliver. My humble advice: before falling for this hype, try the Red Door (a perfume I love) and it has a much superior quality-to-price ratio than this J’adore classic that had everything, including its nose, to make you love it as gold, but I did not love it… and the truth is it is far from smelling of gold. J’adore L’Or is only noticeable in its price 👎🏼 Scent: intense carnation and jasmine. Occasion: outings, but I insist, there are better options. Price: worth it, Dior smells low cost.

I tried it in autumn on a crisp day. It has a powerful opening, smelling like the original and the D’Eau. But I don’t know what is going on; it does not last. After two hours, it is only on the skin, with the violet dominating, which I honestly cannot stand because it is very synthetic. It disappointed me. Between the price, the quantity, the poor longevity, and that awful violet.

WHEN JASMINE DRESSES IN GOLD: J’adore L’Or is the first perfume from the iconic J’adore line signed by master Francis Kurkdjian, and the first to truly win me over. Kurkdjian masterfully revives previous formulas, stripping away fruity and vanilla notes—those beloved ones that often obscured the true jewel’s brilliance: jasmine. Here, jasmine unfolds in all its glory, discreetly accompanied by its loyal bridesmaids: orange blossom, May rose, and other flowers that add a velvet, refined texture. Closing the scene, a delicate veil of warm amber envelops the composition, giving full meaning to the name L’Or. The result is a classic, elegant floral with a radiant, ambered, and sweet jasmine, yet far from the cloying excess of other fragrances like Alien. It sits right on the edge of sweetness, allowing white flowers to keep centre stage. Some might see it as a further niche nod, others as classic or even old school. Whatever the perspective, this fresh twist within commercial florals is welcome—a breath of air that renews sophistication without losing its essence. For me, it feels as if J’adore has finally found its soul. And that soul smells of golden light, pure jasmine, of something that touches without needing to raise its voice. 🍀

What a sensational perfume and what brilliant work by Francis Kurkdjian 💖 I miss the fruity dimension of J’adore, but this is one of the best accessible (not cheap) florals on the market. Just yesterday I was given a couple of samples and here I am, thinking about the incredible projection of a single drop and whether I’ll buy it in February or March 😉

J’Adore L’Or was also a gift from my partner, this time for my last birthday. As a curiosity, I’ll tell you that, wanting to surprise me at all costs, he went to the perfumery where a friend of his works and told her he wanted something that was a very, very recent novelty. She showed him several options, and he chose this perfume, of which they had actually not sold a single unit yet and had to register in the system to sell it to him. When I saw it, I didn’t even know it existed, and I was completely blown away. This perfume is a powerful floral that will delight those who enjoy this type of aroma. It smells of indolic jasmine and yellow flowers; to my nose, with a great predominance of an unlisted ylang-ylang, with that characteristic smell reminiscent of banana, which we have seen in other facets of J’Adore, although never so imposing as here. I also seem to detect some neroli in its composition, also not mentioned among its notes. In the later dry-down, it has a reminiscence of classic J’Adore but never gets very close to it. It is, in short, a sweet and overwhelming floral bouquet with a slightly amber dry-down. Out of curiosity, I have been comparing it side by side with J’Adore L’Absolu, but both are perfumes that, to my nose, have little in common. J’Adore L’Absolu is closer in aroma to classic J’Adore, whereas L’Or is a more powerful and also sweeter perfume. As for its resemblance to Alien, it is true that it is there, but to my nose only in the late dry-down. It has a moderate-to-notable trail and a longevity on my skin that exceeds 10 hours. For me, it is elegant and beautiful, although I am aware it will not suit every nose. Given the very high price at which it hit the market, I think it is mandatory to try it before buying. Fortunately for me, I love it. Although many people say it is a perfume for mature women, it makes me feel beautiful and feminine… how lovely maturity is! What a stunning perfume! I’ve just picked up a bottle, and the packaging is so lovely for a commercial fragrance. They don’t list neroli, yet I can definitely detect it, although the jasmine overpowers almost every other note; I also identify the ylang-ylang. It is truly a well-crafted scent, ideal for a daytime outdoor event like a wedding, projecting cleanliness and power, so in reasonable doses it works well in the office. I recommend waiting before buying it due to the price; perhaps as time passes since its launch, the prices will become more reasonable. I absolutely love it! I suppose if something works, why risk it? Maybe it’s because the master behind the house, if he didn’t dare to create this flagship Dior perfume, certainly knew how to update it brilliantly.

Golden Flower Honey. Francis Kurkdjian has taken the reins at Dior, and here is his first contribution. His musky and luminous imprint forms the base of this J’adore variant. He adds hundreds of flowers to that rich base of light and coats the blend with the sweet juices of all their nectars. It is a super-floral with a classic appearance (thanks to the neroli and jasmine) yet at the same time modern and contemporary due to the construction of the ingredients. The best thing about the formula is that it carries Kurkdjian’s personal signature; as an artist, he turns everything he touches into gold. It is a J’adore that sublimates and strengthens its classic, elegant, and florally sensual identity.
