L’Eclat is what Rituals has launched to replace L’Essence as a base for mixing with their other fragrances. Previously, it made sense because L’Essence was a dense, unisex aroma featuring musk and ISO E Super, but with L’Eclat, it doesn’t seem like such a good idea. L’Eclat is cheerful, luminous, and much airier, with a citrus opening before mimosa and sandalwood take over; it’s floral yet very creamy. I love it, but I wouldn’t use it as a base for anything because it’s so soft that I feel any other perfume would overpower it. Although I haven’t tested it, my intuition suggests it wouldn’t work. I can see myself using it on sunny spring mornings and summer evenings. The trail is moderate, and unfortunately, the longevity isn’t high, lasting around four hours, which suggests it wouldn’t contribute much as a base. It’s a pity that L’Essence has disappeared, perhaps because it seemed too masculine rather than unisex, as I absolutely adore it. If you liked it for solo wear or mixing, I propose Amber Fusion by Zara as an alternative. Scent 7/10, Longevity 4.5/10, Sillage 6/10, Value for money 5.5/10, Versatility 7/10, Packaging 8/10. Would I buy it again? Perhaps.
Excellent fragrance, smells distinct from any other men’s perfume I’ve tried. It’s original, potent, and suitable for any occasion. Perhaps it suits autumn or winter best, but with moderation, it can be worn year-round. Ideally, wear it when dressed up in formal attire. It has a fresh vibe yet is also dense and earthy, which is intriguing. Hard to explain, but essentially it’s a creamy sandalwood, very characteristic and pleasant. It smells great, leaves a trail, and lasts for ages on my skin. For me, it’s a 10; it has undoubtedly become one of the best in my collection.
