Only Desire by Diesel

I tried it because of the bottle, which is very odd for my taste, but that is precisely why it catches the eye. It has a fresh, sweet opening (although it is not a fresh perfume as such); the banana is very noticeable and manages to balance with the rest of the notes. It is sweet without being sickly and, mind you, potent! You don’t need to put on much to notice it. Original and different.

I tried it without much enthusiasm and it turns out to be a good perfume. Ignore the bad reviews/ratings and try it yourself; it’s a really lovely perfume. There are people here rating it badly simply because it isn’t what they are looking for at the very moment they try it, and plenty of others who haven’t even tried it and still vote. It’s a nice, appealing perfume that will make you smell delicious: a sweet yet fresh vanilla that wraps around you without becoming sickly, and it performs very well for how light it feels! It’s very well balanced with the orchid and a somewhat dark, liqueur-like base.

This has probably been one of the biggest disappointments I’ve had recently 😭. I really wanted to like it, not only because of the campaign imagery, but also because I find the bottle beautiful and super original. Unfortunately, for me, just about all of its appeal ends there. On paper, I found it hard to identify the notes, although the drydown left a slight sweet, warm aroma that, in principle, fits my tastes quite well and would have seemed perfect for everyday wear. On my skin, however, the experience was completely different. To begin with, the opening is hard for me to describe, but I perceive a fairly chemical nuance that puts me off, along with a smell of very ripe banana. Curiously, I can’t detect the more acidic pear and bergamot notes I was expecting. In the drydown, the sweet and warm notes do emerge a bit more, but that chemical nuance is still there and ends up dominating the composition. In fact, there are moments when it slightly reminds me of the smell of some cleaning products, which is obviously not what I look for in a perfume. I feel really bad because I genuinely wanted it to work on me, but on my skin it doesn’t work at all. One more proof that, in my case, the blotter can be very misleading and that some perfumes absolutely need to be tried on the skin before buying them💔
