Oud by Reminiscence

Reminiscence Oud is the jewel I found among oud fragrances. I received it as a 5ml decant and it left me speechless. It’s unlike the others I’ve tried such as M7 Interlude Black Afgano Dior Homme Parfum or Dunhill Absolute; this one has something unique that makes me feel I’ve known it before. For me it’s not just a scent but a journey into the past to those first times entering a church or walking with family and grandparents. It brings to mind the smells of forests gardens and hearths all that green smoky incense-laden atmosphere I adore. Woods are another weakness of mine and here they are at their peak. Discovering it was a great satisfaction; it made me very happy the few times I wore it. Unfortunately it runs out quickly but no other fragrance has managed that immediate connection. It’s love at first sniff. I detect a dirty chocolatey highly refined and intense oud that lasts all day and perhaps longer on clothes. With two or three applications you’re more than enough so don’t overlayer it as it can become cloying; it is quite sweet. It’s also smoky spicy and aromatic with a scent reminiscent of Middle Eastern cuisine mixed with incense or a church. Ideally wear it in autumn or winter. It bears a slight resemblance to Zara’s Exclusive Oud but it’s not as overpowering. It was beautiful to encounter it; within it lie many representations of life like a landscape or a magical afternoon that evokes memories of the past or future moments perhaps the best in matters of the heart. It puts a smile on my face when I recall it; I admit I fell in love like a sunset of blue and fuchsia sky or the beginning of autumn in March or April. The peace of enjoying those moments with just your perfume is one of the best things that has happened to me. Some fragrances produce so many lovely feelings they just need to speak. It’s not available in Argentina what a pity. If anyone has it to sell or knows of similar scents I’m all ears send a message. I want to feel it on my skin again and travel back to those sunsets or to the first scents of the past that reside in my heart and will always be there. How crazy isn’t it? We forget many things but not scents.
