Papilefiko by Nishane

Not all fragrances manage to move you; most are merely pleasant scents, but others transport you to places you’ve never visited. Papilefiko is exactly that. It instantly transports me to a pine forest with lavender at my feet. I love that natural calm. Upon spraying, it smells powdery and salty due to a hyper-realistic cardamom, with a citrus touch and a controlled sweetness in the base. Then, the modern, clean lavender takes over—nothing of that old barbershop smell. After an hour, the true star emerges: the fir resin. It’s as if you’re standing in front of the tree, feeling its bark and that sweet, natural aroma. Dominique Ropion has crafted this brilliantly, integrating everything masterfully. It’s sweet, elegant, and versatile. It lasts over twelve hours with good initial projection, then settles on your skin like a personal bubble yet still leaves a trail. Being resinous, it even lingers after my shower the next day. It works well in fresh and moderate climates without being overpowering. I see it as perfect for semi-formal or formal looks; it’s a modern fougère that demands presence and confidence. I’m fascinated by it; it brings calm and is memorable. The quality of materials and composition is top-tier, worthy of Nishane. It evokes precious memories; for me, it’s a 10/10.

Papilefiko is my favourite from Nishane; that blend of lavender and cardamom is wonderful. It smells resinous but isn’t dry or earthy, which I appreciate. The longevity is excellent, lasting over eight hours, and the projection is top-notch, perhaps the best performance in my entire collection. The Time Capsule line offers some great proposals. The price is slightly above average, but it’s worth every euro. I like it so much and it performs so well that it could become my signature scent in the future.

Hello, it’s a rare but incredibly wearable fragrance. I was expecting something more closed-off, like a classic fougère, but it has accords that take you down another path. It begins with citrus and spice, featuring strong lavender, yet floats with a sweet sensation that makes it easy to wear. It no longer smells like a masculine fougère; it’s something else entirely. In the end, with that mossy and sweet touch, it reminds me of a praliné, like Haltane. That’s why it’s so versatile for any age and occasion. It lasts a long time (8/9 hours) without being overpowering, and, not being expensive, it’s ideal when you don’t know what to wear: unmarked character, but brilliant.

Now it’s time to review this fragrance I’ve just added to my collection. It starts very green and rough: citrus, oakmoss, coriander, and fir give it that green, earthy touch. It smells green and spicy, almost with a hint of cumin. The batch is really good; a green oriental. After half an hour, it transforms into a delight with a resinous base, lavender, and jasmine, very pleasant. It’s not groundbreaking; it has similarities to other perfumes, but this experience is on another level. It’s a blend between a fougère and a woody scent. I liked it very much and recommend it to men seeking vintage, potent, and refined aromas. I see it as timeless and versatile for semi-formal or formal wear. Good longevity: strong projection for the first hour, then it settles into a very durable personal bubble. Longevity between 10 and 11 hours on my skin. Scent: 9.5/10, Sillage: 8.5/10, Projection: 8.5/10, Longevity: 9/10.

I tried this fragrance and, judging by the ingredients, it was the one I wanted most from the entire Time Capsule line. I really enjoyed it, but upon spraying, it smells very much like BDK’s Gris Charnel; they share that cardamom note, and there’s something else I haven’t quite detected that makes them similar. I still need to test it on skin to see how it evolves. For now, 7.5/10.
