Parisienne by Yves Saint Laurent is a woody floral musk fragrance for women. Launched in 2009, this composition was created by Sophia Grojsman and Sophie Labbé. The top notes evoke blackberry, blueberry and a touch of vinyl; the heart reveals a harmony of Damask rose, violet and peony; while the base notes settle on musk, sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli.

I clarify that, due to positive reviews, I had very high expectations. Pity that my skin and this perfume don’t click, they have no chemistry between them. I’ve tried several times for it to work with Parisienne; it seemed attractive and original: roses, violets (my favourite floral notes), blueberries, blackberry, musky-woody base and that weird vinyl. I imagined something floral, slightly gourmand, Barbie new smell, which I find lovely and reminds me of the excitement of taking out a new doll when I was a child. Unfortunately, it’s only perceived when freshly applied, but in less than an hour it evaporates, like by magic. It always remains flat, doesn’t leave a trail, I only feel a persistent scent of roses and blueberries, very synthetic, it even gives me a slight plastic smell which, although it doesn’t disgust me, leaves me wanting more because it doesn’t let other notes show. In the end it leaves a smell like too thin milk, very strange. I don’t think there’s more to say: I attribute this to my skin. Parisienne is a rare and interesting proposal, worth knowing to see if that connection exists that I lack. I only have a 10 ml vial and I think I’ll have to let it go so someone else can enjoy it. Nice things were made to circulate, and I believe with the right person this scent can bring out all its potential. To conclude, I recommend it; I want to know what happens to others who give it a chance. I look forward to your reviews with pleasure.
Oh my God! I struggle to talk about this perfume because it disappointed me. I bought it blind (girls, never do that, test first) and it wasn’t anything I expected. Those who love this perfume don’t take offence, I just want to share my experience. Parisienne leaves me blank, without emotions, smells like a fruit cologne with a touch of roses and violets, and nothing more. The price doesn’t justify the quality. I bought it with the hope of keeping something of the Paris perfume and the only thing they share are the rose and violet notes, extremely diluted. I perceive blackberry, then rose, violet and finally the vinyl (which smells like a new doll, as several mentioned), all faint and fleeting because it evaporates quickly. The only plus is that it tries to be ‘innovative’ with the vinyl, although I don’t find it attractive. I still have a little bit, I think I’ll gift it to my seven-year-old niece because she likes the blackberry smell. For me, Parisienne has passed with sorrows, glory doesn’t appear even to say hello.
Looking for a scent with rose notes I bought this perfume based on excellent reviews. Perhaps I had expectations too high and expected to fall in love smelling it the first time… to my disappointment it wasn’t like that. It seemed too synthetic and powdery, didn’t make good chemistry with my skin. In the end, I returned it to the shop.
Parisienne… on my skin the opening is very fruity, I clearly detect the blackberry, but after a few minutes the rose and violet balance the scent. In the dry down the famous ‘vinyl’ note is noticed, which makes it synthetic but not unpleasant. I don’t notice much patchouli. It’s a perfume I like, although it’s not my favourite, it’s tender and feminine; when I use it I receive many compliments. The projection is good and lasts about six hours. Although I don’t specify an age, I recommend it more for a young audience.
I love it! This fragrance screams total femininity, smells of delicate roses and combined with vinyl it’s so seductive. When using it I felt as if I were surrounded by roses with a sensual and mysterious touch to attract your guy. Definitely conquers and I save it for when I see my boyfriend and we can have a romantic dinner in the flat.
Oh, my dear Parisienne! Despite the contempt many have for you, I embrace you with love. The rose and blackberry notes are my favourites, they remind me of my mother’s garden and fill me with joy. In hot climates you are one of my favourites, I notice you are similar to Chloe. Moderate trail and good longevity.
I must confess I like it a lot, but it lasts a sigh, which bothers me because it’s YSL and not cheap. It opens with a fresh rose, almost freshly cut, then the blueberry and blackberries dominate, intensity drops and vinyl enters. What a spectacular note! I loved the plastic smell, it reminds me of taking out a Barbie doll, new shoes, new car, new handbags, hahaha, it’s addictive and I love it. It makes a nice set with roses, violets and blueberries. I don’t notice vetiver or sandalwood, which makes it extremely feminine. It smells like Barbie, artificial beauty, plastic flowers, but very glam. It’s original and hard to wear. The problem is it evaporates completely in an hour on my skin. I’ve read that Modern Muse Le Rouge Gloss also has vinyl, would have to try. They say you have poison on your skin and whoever touches you stays with it…
Despite the bad reviews of Parisienne, I dared to buy it blind and it didn’t disappoint me. It’s a simple perfume, without opulence, but it’s my ideal companion for the heat: fresh, floral with sweetness. I agree it doesn’t last long; you have to overapply and reapply at six hours. It’s expensive for that performance; I found it on discount, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it at that price.
It’s my most recent purchase. A YouTube video caught my eye where they said it smells of roses, so I went to look for it and I loved it. It’s a super feminine scent, ideal for the day. On my skin it lasts incredibly and my boyfriend is fascinated when he smells it.
I tried it yesterday at 50% off. Being YSL, the olfactive family, and the poor reviews were the reasons. It has three phases: the first is fruity, like blueberry and raspberry jam, real, with that vinyl touch that smells of plastic but not disgusting. The second, at an hour, is intense rose until three hours and then woods, my favourite although it’s almost gone now. It lasted about six hours projecting at the start. I recommend it only with a super discount; I expected more from the brand. As they say in Argentina: zafa, but there are better ones.
I adore this perfume. I apply just a little; neither too soft nor overpowering. It’s one of those fragrances that transports you; I love it. If I had to choose one definitively, it would be this one, although I like many. Je t’aime, Parisienne.
It arrived yesterday; I opened it and before spraying, it already smelled of blackberries. The opening was a bomb of berries. Here comes the hated vinyl, but it’s not so strong or overpowering. It appears, says ‘hello!’ and mixes softly with the berries and the rose that arrives gradually. It’s feminine, slightly sweet and faintly talc-y. It’s youthful, even childish; yes, I understand the comparison with new dolls. It has surprised me and I’ve liked it more than expected. It lasts about six hours with an acceptable trail. It doesn’t overwhelm and is noticeable. The only drawback is that in Spain the large bottle costs a fortune. I found it on offer for less than 40 euros, but I don’t think it’s worth the usual 80.
Ugh, what can I say? I simply love it. Pure presence, sensuality, enveloping, elegant and seductive; a wonder. I use it a lot in spring, but I think it would suit autumn or winter better due to its strength; it’s good all day. On my skin, the longevity is excellent; it varies with time but never loses its elegance and sensuality.
I went to Parisienne on the recommendation of someone with similar tastes, but it wasn’t a hit; I tried it several times. The notes aren’t the problem; they’re inoffensive but give a generic smell. I barely notice the vinyl; it doesn’t ruin anything. The bad thing is the longevity and trail; they’re very faint. In a short while, it smells like nothing. My verdict is a no due to lack of originality and longevity.
I bought it in 2014 and there was a date that changed everything. A blind date with a Spaniard; my perfume caught his attention, interrupting our conversation surprised by my scent and that I wore YSL; I expected American brands. The romance didn’t last due to being on different continents; we’re friends, but I always feel safe with it. I’ll keep it forever.
The berries with flowers and vinyl make a feminine, different and original fragrance. I like it for spring because I feel it lasts longer on me then.
God, it’s one of my favourites; I’d buy it again. My beloved violets are the stars with berries and the touch of vinyl makes it unique! It’s a gem.
I received a new bottle after buying the first one in 2013 and I’m disappointed. It doesn’t smell the same anymore and the longevity is terrible. The old bottle from years ago is still perfect, with more vinyl and a better trail. What a disappointment; I bought it new at a high price and it’s a fiasco due to the longevity.
Wow! Smells like a princess and a Barbie doll; I love it and would wear it all year round. It’s ultra-feminine and any woman would adore it. I recommend it for warm climates, though I wear it all the time. It’s delicious; those berries give an exquisite sweetness. It just lacks longevity; you have to reapply, but I adore it; it’s in my top 10.
Initially smells of talc, not the berries I was looking for, but the vinyl note comes out very intense. Then come soft touches of tea and citrus. It’s elegant without being over-the-top, although I’m surprised it doesn’t feature jasmine given it’s from YSL. Olfactorily, it feels incomplete. It’s not youthful; it’s super mature and formal, nothing sparkly, with a woody base.
I have the Eau de Parfum version and I loved it. On my skin I quickly notice the blueberry and blackberry; when it settles, there’s that talc-like vinyl, and when it dries, a clean floral. I liked it very much; I regret the trail doesn’t impact. On skin it lasts about 6 hours, on clothes all day and the next day you can still smell it. I would buy it again because it made me feel good; the disappointing part is only the trail.
If I had to compare it, it’s a Malibu version of a Barbie doll: fruity, sweet, simple, and vain. I’m not the only one who thinks so. The name doesn’t fit the aroma. On my skin it lasts well for the first three hours and then fades gradually.
Beautiful perfume; it makes you feel like a fairytale princess. I don’t feel the vinyl or plastic, although the nail polish smell is tolerable. It’s a fruity floral similar to Guerlain Insolence (they’re not the same, but they share notes). It’s not intrusive, a dry floral with a talc-like touch from the violet. The only bad thing is it has no great trail; it stays close to the skin, but it’s worth it. I bought it blindly with fear and I don’t regret it.
Pity my nose can’t detect anything of this perfume. I’d like to review it better, but it’s as if it were a hair fixative; it smells like nothing on my skin.
I agree that Parisienne by YSL has its own identity; I imagine the vinyl smell is associated with doll hair and yes, it smells very clean plastic. It’s not a criticism, it’s my appreciation: it’s a subtle scent of fruity violets. The trail and longevity are weak for a YSL. I have the lovely bottle in my miniature collection.
One of the best rose perfumes. It smells like a super-sweet jam of red fruits (blackberry and blueberry) with rose petals and violet, and that vinyl note gives it a unique touch.
What an interesting aroma. I knew it had a vinyl note and watched a thousand videos because people only said ‘vinyl’ and not ‘disc’, so I theorised it was about sewing or shoes and I was right: it’s more girly than musical. It’s a plastic, rubbery note that scared me at first, but once I sprayed it, the flowers emerged: fresh rose and green turning into the acidity of red berries and blackberry. It doesn’t smell like a doll, but like a coquettish girl in a miniskirt or vinyl boots; you can almost hear the garment closing. It’s not vintage; it’s super current, ideal from age 20, youthful yet sophisticated. It departs with violet, soapy musk, and a low patchouli that adds depth without being simple. I got it on offer; I wouldn’t buy it at full price because there are better performance options. It’s a scent for a pretty girl, fresh floral with personality. It reminds me of YSL Mon Paris Florale but with that latex touch. The trail is soft; perhaps I’d like it more if it lasted longer. Edit: I found the doll hair smell, that bitter synthetic note of Barbie’s elastic hair when you soak it. If you’re looking for this peculiarity, it’s for you; perfect for spring/summer, light notes but persistent that look better diffused in the air.
I bought it blindly because of reviews saying it smells like Barbie, although I don’t like florals. Mistake: it smells fruity but very little, and much more like roses and violets, even when dry. The violet smells lovely but the rose annoys me. I admit it smells elegant, like an evening out, more like a 70s Barbie although the fragrance is modern. The trail is weak but noticeable for two hours; it lasts up to five. I’ll finish using it because I already have it.
It was a blind buy for the famous vinyl smell 🤣 and what a good call! I love it from the first spray to dry down 💖. It smells like an explosion of red fruits, blackberry, rose, and violet, with that vinyl touch giving it a brand-new doll vibe 🥰. I feel young, coquettish, clean, and princess-like 👸🏻. It’s one of the tenderest and cheeriest perfumes I’ve tried; it has no resemblance to others and reminds me of the Lolita style thanks to the fresh violets. Would I buy it again? Absolutely! I’ll buy a refill as soon as I can 😬. The only downside is the projection is intimate, but nothing a few thousand sprays can’t solve 🤣. A marvel 💟
The vinyl note is brutal; it gave me such nausea I thought the world was ending. Although the base scent is nice, it lasts and projects nothing; you have to spray until you’re dizzy. It’s so synthetic I couldn’t bear it (edit: over time the intensity dropped and now I like it more). I don’t recommend buying it blindly, but luckily I got a miniature; the bottle is adorable and smells like a Barbie doll’s hair, so it suits it perfectly.
A somewhat strange perfume. Most of the perfumes I adore usually have the raspberry or blackberry note, so seeing these notes excited me. Despite the supposed complexity of the vinyl, I was interested in trying it. I imagined it with barely sweetened violets and roses, with the blackberry adding a touch of sweetness and a synthetic note; I pictured dried violets, wood, and patchouli… a modern and challenging aroma. What I found was a perfume that smells of sweet blackberry with some milky note, I wouldn’t say creamy. For me, the flowers blend with the blackberry in a somewhat unharmonious way. The woods are absent, and the vinyl is imperceptible to me. It’s an aroma I could accept in a body splash after a bath but it’s not up to what I imagined a YSL should be. What I highlight most, unfortunately, is that its performance is terrible. It disappears three minutes after applying it, and if we want to smell it, we must apply it more than eight times. On humid and hot days I hardly smell it, it’s like cologne water. On cooler days it performs better, but for me it’s not even acceptable for the price it has. I clarify that I consulted a friend in a Facebook perfume group who had sold hers, and she told me she also had poor performance, which made me rule out that the perfume had been adulterated in some way. It was a gift; I wouldn’t buy it again and would suggest trying before buying.
It smells like freshly cut roses; it’s very feminine, you either love it or hate it. At first I hated it, but then I got used to it. It was a blind buy, but yes, I would buy it again; it’s very, very feminine.
It was my fragrance for going to uni. Sweet, tender, with that floral touch that isn’t cloying. I’ve never smelled this perfume on another person. I wouldn’t buy it again; I prefer to leave it as a memory of that time. But recently I passed a perfumerie and upon smelling it, that warm, spring-like sweetness brought back memories. ‘Romantic’ is the word to describe it.
Neither here nor there for me, just fruity bits and a bit of musk. And that vinyl note smells like car tyre to me. Who had the idea that would be a good one? It’s more unpleasant than the gunpowder note in the Flower Bomb flanker, which I hate. For me, it’s a no.
I’m obsessed with this fragrance; it’s super unique. That vinyl touch gives it a precious and original vibe. Very ‘girly’, I’m a fan of princess-like scents, ultra-feminine, and this beautiful Parisienne is 100% that. Those red fruits mixed with the violets and that strange note… what can I say, I love it. On the skin, it smells a bit like Amethyst by Lalique, but this isn’t as acidic; it’s more youthful and also, as someone said, has something of the style of Insolence by Guerlain, though ultimately it doesn’t resemble either of them. I agree with everyone that it evaporates in nothing; I don’t know if it lasts me 2 hours, unfortunately. Another creation by my admired Sophia Grojsman and being from the YSL house, it can only be a very fine and classy scent. I still lament its zero trail and poor longevity 🙁
A nostalgic, distinctive, and interesting fragrance. Ultra-feminine, one of those vintage perfumes that remind you of their era. Researching its purpose, I discovered it has a story connected to the Parisian woman of 2009, conceived as a tribute to that spirit combining sophistication with bohemian flair. Before discussing the scent, I love the YSL presentation: a complex bottle, irregularly textured, with a central label highlighting the logo. I love that complexity, a nice detail. The aroma is quite floral at first; I sense a very marked and refined rose, typical of that era. Then, the roses fade in intensity to give way to the violet and red fruits in the base. After that floral-fruit blend, the characteristic vinyl note appears. It’s not common to have a clear reference of what it smells like, but here they give it a distinctive twist. I once entered a music studio with vinyls exposed to sunlight; they radiated a peculiar smell, like burnt plastic or metal. Thanks to their synthetic composition, they emitted a sweet smell from the vinyl acetate, which polymerises with the light to give that sweetness. Returning to the perfume, I feel it contains a notable synthetic vinyl note that adds an exotic sweetness, almost never seen. I find it charming; it brings back memories of when my mother wore it on our walks or meals. Due to its unconventional composition and sophistication, it leaves a mark on the memory. Nowadays it’s very hard to find, at least the first version, as the brand refreshed the bottle making it simpler. I hope they haven’t reformulated it. It’s a scent for any occasion, not intrusive to the olfactory system. In short, it’s a scent with a distinct twist that gave me a new experience, sophisticated and with a unique character.
This fragrance is an unparalleled classic. I only wear it on special occasions. I believe no one has ever complimented me, but I love how sweet it is mixed with the vinyl; it’s a very difficult scent to describe. I recommend you try it.
It basically smells of intensified blackberry with roses and violet. The vinyl as such isn’t noticeable, but I think it’s there and blends well. There are several fragrances in the ‘red fruit’ family: Nuit de l’Himalaya from Rituals with currants is fresher than this, as Parisienne doesn’t feel fresh at all. Sultane Pink by Jeanne Arthes, with raspberry, rose, and violet, is fruitier and more playful. It’s no longer sold, though they still have other Sultane versions (they are cute and cheap perfumes). If you like smelling like blackberry, it’s ideal. The bottle is very pretty, though I miss more original designs like the Baby Doll.
I’ve had this addiction since 2020 and was powerfully drawn to it by the beautiful bottle and the liquid colour. However, the notes didn’t convince me as it was part of a gourmand and sweet perfume line, something that now slightly annoys me. But I went to smell it and I don’t know if I’m going mad (lately I’m smelling things that have nothing to do with the bottle), but I detected a very strong vanilla note 🤔.
I’m revising my earlier opinion now that I own it and have been wearing it for days. The longevity is short for now, though I hope it improves with age. I don’t detect the vanilla note I was expecting; instead, there’s a slightly powdery rose, although be warned, it is not Kenzo Flower, which for me hits the limit between powdery and tiring. The fruit notes are noticeable, like a sweet yet tart blueberry, with that special vinyl touch that gives it something unique and far from plastic. I’ve worn it to bed and it’s absolutely not intrusive. It’s a lovely, original, timeless rose; I believe it will still sound good in two decades. It’s cold here now, but I suspect in the heat this rose could be a bit heavy. Roses, even soft ones, tend to be unbearable in summer. By the way, that powdery touch comes from the violet, which is very, very subtle. In short: rose, blueberries, and a hint of violet.
