Passionate Man by Bejar

My first contribution here, where I’ve been enjoying scents for years, is a ‘fake’ that goes unnoticed even when you dive headfirst into it; I threw it straight in the bin (recycled). As they used to say in Spain before the euro: ‘nobody gives two pesetas for a duro’.

Another one I don’t like. A mountain of greasy, musky petals, a masculine floral from the nineties with a citrus/musk aftertaste from the bergamot and an unsweetened raspberry. In some phases it sounds unisex. Every time I smelled it, it seemed like a potent, creamy shower gel, radiating like a boar in rut and lasting for ages. I imagine a well-off family father, fresh from a tennis shower, heading to the harbour for an aperitif. Something outdated and costumbrista, like a savings book with the old CAM logo. The curious thing: I forgot about it because I didn’t wear much of it, but when I showered and smelled my wrist, a smoky, sandalwood and vanilla-scented aroma remained, incense-stick shop style, nothing like the opening. If you like perfumes like Don Algodón or family-friendly summer musks, it’s a cheap option with nuances. It feels synthetic, but that’s no problem compared to L’Homme Prada, which costs three or four times more and smells like a contact club air freshener in Alicante.

The opening of PASSIONATE MAN by BEJAR is resolute and reveals the debate for the coming hours. A citrus effervescence of bergamot in a Mediterranean floral bouquet that frames it within the floral woody family. Flowers of orange blossom, rose, jasmine, geranium and ginger (not declared). These are Mediterranean flowers, fresh, ozonic, marine, charged with sun and blue. Countryside flowers, soapy, orange, smiling like little girls running down the hills of the Mediterranean. Laughing and screaming, seized with joy, they gather bergamot, vegetal musk and ginger, place them in flower baskets and drop petals over white dresses. The riot of colour, scent and Mediterranean taste. This is PASSIONATE MAN by BEJAR, bought because of Darkbeat’s review, and one of the ones I’ve worn most recently because it brightens my day. A sublime, sensual and sexy discovery. A fragrance that invites you to sniff until you’re thoroughly satisfied. It pleasantly surprised me. Floral with a soft citrus opening; orange blossom and bergamot offer something unique, floral and citrusy yet sweet and elegant. Then it blooms in splendour, revealing mysterious notes. In the base, there is a soft, sensual vanilla, with moments where the raspberry stands out, wrapped in very delicate flowers. Sometimes it turns floral with a sexy fruity note; when you think there are no more changes, the raspberry returns with floral hints, then floral and fruity again, and so on until the end. I loved it, simply brilliant, without being loud, cloying or attention-seeking. Long-lasting, moderate sillage. On my skin it lasted 8 hours with moderate projection from the start. Very versatile for hot climates, usable day and night.
