Quelques Notes d’Amour by Yves Rocher

To start with, I tried it on a gift sample, so my impression might vary slightly from what I’d get with the spray. It opens with a citrusy, sweet, and woody rose that’s very wearable. As it settles, the woodiness gains prominence, highlighting the patchouli. Upon drying, the rose loses some cohesion and the synthetic nature (the 2FE is noticeable) becomes apparent, yet it remains pleasant; perhaps because the benzoin and woods take over. I can’t judge the projection since it was a sample, but the longevity was good, lasting around 12 hours on skin. It seems like a versatile feminine scent for late spring and winter; although I’m not usually a rose fan, it caught my eye and made me want to try it more. It’s reliable, suitable for informal or semi-formal occasions, doesn’t overpower, and I doubt anyone would complain. I recommend it to those seeking something serious that makes a statement without being overwhelming and avoids excessive sweetness. Pleasant: 6/10 Interesting: 2/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 4/10

Reading the reviews, it’s clear this isn’t for everyone, but I notice many seem to experience it differently; surely it’s due to the multiple reformulations, as the one I have has nothing to do with the current version. For me, it smells as good as any luxury perfume costing over £100. It’s a super sexy scent, perfect for evening and very feminine, with an incredible trail. Every time I wear it, everyone notices, so I only use it for going out at night. The longevity is many hours, better than some expensive perfumes, even though my skin doesn’t retain scent well. On clothes, it lasts until I wash them. What a pity, because once I finish this bottle, I won’t be able to enjoy it like this anymore, as the current version bears no resemblance to the original.

Well, it’s the Yves Rocher fragrance I’ve disliked the most so far, despite buying fragrances from this house for decades. It smells synthetic, artificial, and lacks personality; it conveys no emotion, takes me nowhere, reminds me of nothing or no one. In my view of what a fragrance should be, it’s a failure. I’m just wasting it to scent the house. At least I have the comfort of knowing I didn’t pay for it, as it was a gift with a web purchase. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I had it in its freshest, lighter Eau de Toilette version. It’s a perfect versatile fragrance for everyday wear and for the office.

As a rose lover, I acknowledge the notes are executed perfectly: it’s a mature rose that I adore on the skin. It’s the first Yves Rocher perfume that has truly won me over. I sense and enjoy the patchouli and pepper before the woody notes emerge. I’m not sure if they are Notes d’Amour, but they are undoubtedly high-quality notes that compose the fragrance.
