  • This smells of pure ginger with a shy touch of incense; the first time I smelled it, it instantly reminded me of Canada Dry.

The opening is citrusy rosemary and fresh; once it settles, a fragrant fir emerges and the spices begin: plenty of nutmeg, little touches of cardamom and pepper. All over a soft cedar base that exudes incense resins. The finish is gentle, and I think the trail depends on how many sprays you use: if I apply two, by the end of the day I can only smell it right up against my skin; if I use three or four, it’s noticeable from 40cm away. It’s a beautiful creation, full of contrasts yet harmonious. Don’t let the name fool you; it doesn’t feel ecclesiastical, but rather a distant, tranquil and fertile place under the shade of ancient trees.

  • The opening is citrusy and turns into pure botafumeiro within a minute. Incense lovers will go mad. A good perfume, although it’s not my style.

  • Sancti smells like a ritual. Like a medieval potion brewed by wise women in a dark forest under the new moon. The blend of resins and sweet fruits creates an intoxicating draught that, in my mind, serves as protection. The lavender, rosemary, fir balsam and myrrh sound like a charm against the evil eye or bad spirits. However, based on its predecessors, it smells of ancient ecclesiastical oils, holy chrism, a cathedral, a tombstone and a cemetery, like an embalming ointment. It is exquisite. You wear it and smell like a piece of ancestral world, protected by a charm. It is beautiful and evocative. You function as a lucky bearer, illuminated by hidden yet radiant medicinal wisdom.

  • To me, this is the pure scent of holidays, nothing to do with tiare and coconut. If you prefer strolling through European cities rather than throwing yourself into the sea, you’ll get the trick. Sancti is the feeling of ducking into the tenth cathedral of the day to rest your weary bones on a bench and gaze at the stained glass. I haven’t smelled anything that captures the scent of a church better, at least from the perspective of a profane soul like mine. It’s spectacular.
