Viking Cologne by Creed

Smells like a man with character. The opening is fresh, mandarin and lemon, but as it dries down, the sharp rosemary explodes, giving it its identity. It finishes with sandalwood and patchouli. I tested it in a library and thought it belonged to the guy next to me; it turned out to be in my own pocket. Projects well and lasts over nine hours.

A classic barbershop-style perfume that gives the sensation of having heard it before, like my grandfather’s fragrances, but refined and high quality like all Creed. Depending on the moment, the mandarin is very sharp. There are better options from the brand, but it’s for a mature audience who likes this style. Fresh, manly aroma, which projects and lasts quite a while.

Tested this afternoon and after drying down, I went home. It smells like the classic man, essential for lovers of classic masculine scents. Ideal for formal or casual occasions, fitting in with good dress codes. Beastly performance: four sprays on the arm last six hours projecting. Update two days later: with seven sprays on the neck, it was still projecting wildly at 00:30, and upon waking at 7, the bursts were still clear. All Creed perfumes perform well, but this was a surprise. If you want performance, give it a good dose; perfumes are bought to be worn.

A fresh masculine aroma, mandarin… the classic fresh cologne with a touch. I don’t think it’s worth it for the price, as it’s expensive. There are many perfumes of this style on the market with the same quality for less money. Very poor longevity; after four hours, you have to press your nose against the skin to smell it. You have to reapply. By the way, it no longer comes with a metal cap but a poor-quality plastic one, a detail I didn’t like at all. The same happened with Aventus Cologne. Bought from the official website. My recommendation is to look at other options.

An EDP Cologne type Barbershop with Class is my definition. Moderate but very pleasant projection and trail.

A pull of the wool by Creed. Perfume with a correct and pleasant smell, but very poor performance, almost always skin scent. Pleasant but simple aroma: mandarin, bergamot, cedar… you’ve smelled it a thousand times. This perfume will be overlooked no matter how much four reviewers insist. For that price? A robbery.

Viking Cologne takes the archetype of aromatic fougères to maximum power, as if you were evolving the typical Brut cologne into a Super Saiyan. It smells very well and respects every facet of this type of perfume: vivid citrus (mandarin/orange), dense lavender and nutmeg, over a woody and musky base. Personally, it smells rich, has body, performance and quality, but it’s not original and I don’t think it’s worth the asking price unless you value the ingredients. Knowing there are similar options, I’d choose other Creed perfumes, and I even think its predecessor, Viking, is better and more purposeful. Versatile, masculine and with good general performance. Recommend trying it only if you want a classic cologne at maximum power; otherwise, go for other Creed. Note: 7/10.

An insignificant launch, like Creed’s latest offering. It’s a soapy aromatic fougère with a barbershop vibe, featuring lavender and herbs, built on a modern ambroxan base that I don’t like. The citrus notes are synthetic and lack naturalness. It lacks depth, evolution, potency, and longevity on my skin. Not much more to say. Moving on.
