Sardonics 2 by Novaya Zarya is a floral woody musk made for women and first released in the 1970s. It has the poise of a period piece: flowers up front, leather and moss beneath.
Rose, aldehydes and white blossoms open with a clean, soapy brightness. The dry-down is another matter altogether — softer, drier and quietly earthy.
The top notes of rose, aldehydes and white flowers set a crisp tone. The rose feels powdered and groomed, lifted by an aldehydic sparkle typical of seventies florals.
At the heart, leather meets iris, violet and vetiver. The leather accord is supple rather than harsh, wrapped in the powder of iris and violet, with vetiver lending a green, soil-like facet.
Sandalwood, oakmoss and musk form the base. Together they read creamy yet dry, mossy with a gentle animalic hum that keeps the musk from feeling too clean.
On skin the perfume moves from bright floral to talc-like woods. Leather, wood, powder, violet, earth, iris, animal, rose, moss and aldehyde impressions surface in turn, well blended.
