I won’t go into detail, but I like the perfume. On my skin, the similarity to The Night is limited to both carrying rose and oud. It lacks being more animalic and having more tenacity and longevity. The dry down does get closer to The Night, though not identical, which is logical. Still, being from the same line and at this price, it’s very good and more usable than other oud proposals, including The Night, which, being my favourite, I admit is for personal enjoyment and horror to others.
Well, I bought it to start getting closer to rose, a note that for me is almost impossible to wear, except in cases like Flaming Red. It delivers very well for the price: it’s synthetic, with an alcoholic opening and a synthetic oud that attempts to have dirty and stable nuances, alongside a sweet rose and more than decent longevity. That’s what this little fragrance is.

A fragrance for personal enjoyment that could be horrifying to others. I bought it blind, knowing it was challenging, and I was pleasantly surprised. It has the DNA of The Night by Frederic Malle but is more wearable due to the pronounced rose. Despite the ‘dirty’ animal or lactic stable touch, it becomes gentle as it dries. Paris Corner has done it again; an excellent fragrance with unbeatable value for money. The packaging is impeccable and opened a new world for me. It’s responsible for my addiction to oud. Anecdote: I wore it to work and a colleague said it smelled like a nappy.
I had doubts about whether I would like this scent due to the rose, but yes. It’s a fairly well-rounded and nicely finished fragrance. The opening reminded me of the classic barbershop from my childhood, with a dusty and powdery atmosphere in the air. The dry down is a deep, dark rose, with a touch of a British lord’s study. It’s unisex: on a man, it’s extremely elegant but delicate and slightly effeminate, while on a woman, it’s darker and more mysterious.
I know the type below is from a barbershop, but if it smells like this, it must be in India. Powerful oud opening, stable-like, reminiscent of The Night at a third of the potency, yet it’s the best synthetic interpretation of Indian oud I’ve tried. Hints of rose, becoming more floral and soapy as it dries. 10/10 for me, ridiculous price for something that perfectly mimics Indian oud.
