Sunset Riot is a wonderful discovery: resinous, woody and warm. It’s elegant, with a personal trail and eight-hour longevity. In detail, it smells of amber, cedar and perhaps orange blossom; the pepper and rose blend so seamlessly they merely accompany the amber and cedar heart. At first, it recalls Baccarat Rouge 540 by about 60–70%, but it is not a dupe; they are cousins with distinct styles that soon diverge until they feel like distant relatives. It is warm, elegant and discreet for the office: perfect if you want to smell good without seeking attention. Its trail is intimate, only noticeable if someone leans in, making it ideal for sensitive people or work environments. The longevity surprised me: applied at 6:45 am, it projected strongly for the first three hours (though others didn’t notice), then softened in intensity but persisted for another five hours with gentle bursts. Total eight hours. I would not recommend buying it blindly, as it is not the typical scent that everyone enjoys.
