I picked this up on Vinted and it’s an absolute treat. Fragrantica gets the notes wrong, but the official website says: top notes of strawberry and rose, heart of almond and caramel, base of vanilla and musk. It smells incredible, rich and sweet without being cloying, very pleasant, and I think it will suit many people. It’s not simple vanilla; it has more body and smells like an expensive perfume. I’m keeping it in my collection because I love it. Even my boyfriend, who’s usually indifferent, liked it. On my skin, the trail and longevity are soft; it lingers on clothes but not as much as other colognes, nor with as much potency. At €4, it’s a pity there’s no perfume version, as on my skin it stays quite soft (though others say it lasts longer), but the scent is top-notch. Highly recommended, I enjoy it immensely and I’m glad I tried it 😍

It smells to me exactly like the Yves Rocher vanilla perfume I used in the 90s (I think it was Vanille Bourbon, now discontinued, and it smells identical). It’s a cupcake scent that I use for layering with vanilla fragrances to make them stand out more. For instance, I mix it with Manifesto L’Éclat by Yves Saint Laurent, whose vanilla is lighter than the original. I also combine it with citrus perfumes. The other day I mixed it with Le Jardin de Monsieur Li by Hermès and ended up smelling like a lemon cake, like a ‘tartine au citron’ from a French patisserie.

If you’re going to France and are nostalgic for Yves Rocher’s Vanille Bourbon, don’t hesitate to head to any supermarket (Carrefour, Leclerc, Intermarché…) and grab this 110 ml Eau de Toilette for around €4. It’s spot on to the original. Every time I spray it, I’m transported back to my adolescence, when I used several bottles of that scent. It smells basically like bakery vanilla. It’s simple and linear but very rich and cosy, ideal for wearing at home or before bed. For an EDT, it has an acceptable longevity of 4-5 hours and a moderate trail if you apply generously. Scent 9/10, Longevity 7/10, Trail 7/10, Value for money 10/10, Versatility 7/10, Packaging 6/10. Would I buy it again? Yes.
