Angel Eau Sucree by Mugler

After searching for a long time, I finally found this Angel version. Honestly, I still don’t know if I like it or not. The dry-down is lovely but the opening gives me doubts. There’s something about that patchouli that doesn’t quite sit right for me. I tested it in summer with over 30 degrees, so I’ll keep the bottle to try it in winter, as its notes seem to shine more in fresh climates. For now, it has the classic Angel DNA (maybe that’s what I don’t like, haha), but with a much more pleasant and sweet finish. And you might ask: why look for an Angel flaker if you don’t like the classic? Well, because all its flakers DO please me, hehe. Things are what they are. I’ll expand on the review in winter.

I bought it blind… I hadn’t even tried the traditional Angel or Muse before, and they seemed far too intense to me 😖. I saw many reviews and decided to look for this one because it’s discontinued, and honestly, I have no regrets 😍. It has the Mugler DNA, but it’s much more bearable and less invasive. I love it!

Another Angel that has won my heart… Sweet, very fruity and delicious. I bought it blind and it was love at first sniff. Another Mugler perfume that’s staying on my vanity.

I loved it; the scent seems to be a mix between Christian Dior’s Dolce Vita and the traditional Angel… something like that…

I bought it on a trip to the south and I loved it. Definitely it’s the simple and cheerful version of Angel. Sweet, fun and with great staying power, it can be worn all day.

Angel Eau Sucree is special not for being revolutionary like the 1992 original, but for its joy and comfort. It’s one of the most cheerful fragrances I’ve ever tried; it makes me smile just by smelling it. The opening is dominated by meringue; although it’s a heart note, I can sense it all the time. The red berries form a minimal background to take the edge off and prevent it from being too overwhelming (it reminds me of a Chilean cereal called ‘Zucaritas’). Then the meringue absorbs some of the vanilla to regain vitality, leaving a scent of a freshly baked cake, crisp and delicious. At the end, the same patchouli as the original, but here the meringue dominates over a pinch of patchouli. It’s enchanting, crisp and sparkly, with a cosmic joy that reminds me of Britney Spears’ Midnight Fantasy (both can give cavities to those sensitive to sweets). It’s a less transgressive and more tender version of Angel, though the difference from the original is clear, so don’t buy it if you’re looking for the classic. The price is reasonable. The trail is more timid and less overwhelming than the original Angel, but the longevity is good, albeit shorter. Precious for cold weather, but be careful in heat (don’t over-apply).

The little sister of Angel: less rough, simpler and friendlier. It has Angel’s DNA, with a patchouli that’s a bit minty at first but isn’t strong here. It’s sugary and acidic due to the overdose of blackberries (I detect blackcurrants and raspberry), reminiscent of Innocent in the middle, with a creamier, more vanilla base. It’s not as potent as other Angel versions I’ve tried, but it lasts quite a while; after hours, I can still catch the trail of the original :D. It’s brilliant, super sweet, fluffy, coquettish and childish without being cloying. I love it.
