A review of the 1920s extract with the original formula. I would classify it as leather-floral; for me, it is the Chanel epitome of elegance and sophistication, and the house’s finest creation. The concentration feels rich and slightly unctuous, featuring an indolic jasmine and aldehydes in perfect balance—unlike Nº 22 or even Nº 5. Intense leather, tobacco, and a subtle rose. Absolutely fabulous. Of course, it is less airy and bright than the Eau de Toilette and the EDP; the current ‘Les Exclusifs’ formulas do justice to the original and have successfully maintained the formula since its inception. Fortunately, it seems IFRA has not interfered here, as the notes do not appear particularly allergenic (if I am wrong, I would appreciate information). I see it as totally unisex, especially this concentration where the leather and tobacco are thoroughly enjoyed. The flowers remain in the background but do not disappear, while the Ylang-ylang adds sweetness and cleanliness to the whole. With this fragrance, I cannot be very objective, as leather notes are my weakness, but I can say this is truly a work of art by Chanel. A fantastic scent of a unique dimension, original, 100% Chanel DNA, and an timeless classic that is essential in any collection.
