  Absinthe Boreale by Maison Crivelli is one of my favourites from the brand. At first, I thought I’d already tried it until I realised it smells like the freshest version of Bleu de Chanel. It has a wealth of super bright green notes, without being citrusy or aquatic, yet they add so much life to the scent. To be honest, I detect thyme and rosemary, supported by lavender and moss, giving it a pleasant roughness and a cool feel that fits the name perfectly. I barely notice any orange or tangerine, but the green notes dominate with a good balance. I think it’s a brilliant proposal that moves away from typical citrus or aquatic perfumes. I believe it’s ideal for hot weather and feels more masculine than feminine. It reminds me of a mountain trip, with air so pure it cleans you down to the last cell, which is spectacular. It has great quality, though I would have liked more development or body; still, I recommend giving it a try. There’s a hint of salt that could seem a bit commercial, as it’s a simple scent, but not uninteresting. Rating: 8/10

It features a multitude of bright green notes, not citrusy or aquatic, which give it a very lively touch. Among the official notes, I detect thyme and rosemary, with lavender and moss adding a roughness that isn’t unpleasant, plus a cool sensation that matches the name and the other ingredients perfectly. I also sense a bit of orange or tangerine, but the green always dominates with a good balance. I think it’s a lovely aromatic proposal that steers clear of typical citrus or aquatic perfumes. I consider it ideal for hot weather and view it as more masculine than feminine. It evokes a journey to the mountains or a place where the air is so pure it cleans you down to the last cell, which is spectacular. It has high quality, although I would have wished for more evolution or body in the fragrance; nevertheless, I recommend trying it widely. There’s a touch of salt that might seem slightly commercial, as it’s an easy scent, but not uninteresting. Rating: 8/10

  How on earth do they charge over €200 for a perfume you have to rub your neck for an hour just to see if any scent remains? I’ve tried it several times as I have official samples. To me, it’s a fougère that opens green but quickly settles into an almost imperceptible musk with a sweet touch. Not absinthe-like at all, basically just lavender. If you’re looking for something similar that actually works well, try Tom Ford’s ‘Beau de Jour’, or a much more economical option with similar accords, the ‘normal’ by Pedro del Hierro.
