Agua de Bambu by Adolfo Dominguez

I’ve owned my first bottle of this for 13 years, which came in a gift box with aftershave of the same scent. I’ve since bought three more, including a 100ml bottle because it seems they’ve stopped manufacturing it. It’s undoubtedly one of my all-time favourite fragrances. It smells very similar to Creed’s Silver Mountain Water, and the perfumer is none other than Ramón Monegal. 10/10. Fresh, green, and clean aroma; every time I wear it, I feel freshly shaved by that first splash. A true gem.

An original and very pleasant fragrance where the citrus and yerba mate are noticeable. In my case, the trail starts to fade after 45 minutes before settling close to the skin. What a pity that a fragrance with these characteristics, which is unlike anything else, has such poor performance.

A clean, fresh, clear, soapy, and uncomplicated fragrance, yet with a certain magnetism. For everyday wear, practical and carefree, it’s absolutely perfect. Despite its lightness, it surprises with its longevity, surpassing the average for colognes of this style. Furthermore, you can apply it generously without worry, as it’s not invasive in the slightest.

A fragrance that makes you feel clean and fresh, especially in spring and summer, although if applied sparingly, it can also be worn in autumn. I love it; the bergamot and bamboo are very noticeable. I’ll be buying it again.

If you like Loewe’s water or the CK One line, you’ll absolutely love this. It’s unisex, with a citrus opening that blends with a refreshing tea, I’d say Earl Grey, with a hint of pepper and a base of bamboo wood and yerba mate. Perhaps it doesn’t project much, but it fulfils its function of smelling clean and fresh and gives you energy for everyday life. It ranks alongside Citrus Cedro and Azhar Water as the best fragrances from Adolfo Domínguez.

I met it among the Adolfo Domínguez range and, with patience, fell in love. At first, on my skin, it felt like a slightly dated classic I couldn’t quite place, but after letting it settle for a while, I grew to like it. It’s cheap, starting off aromatic and generic, before evolving into something citrus-herbal with a bamboo base. Ideal for springs, mild summers and gentle autumns; that note gives an energetic touch. It’s versatile, though in my opinion a bit mature, and I still don’t get its opening. The longevity is good, around 6-7 hours on skin with a moderate trail that softens after two hours. Tip: wear it on clothes to make it last longer. I wouldn’t buy it again because there are better options; it’s not bad, it’s a great workhorse for daily life due to the price, but ultimately it feels a bit boring. 7.5 points.

GREEN AND SIMPLE: It’s an all-rounder fragrance at a modest price; it won’t win awards for being complex, but it’s super refreshing and versatile. Wear it for exercise, weekends or the office, and no one will complain about that fresh, herbal scent, whether you’re 18 or 50. The opening is citrusy and clean, with a distinct grapefruit note alongside bergamot, which for a moment reminds me of openings like CK One, CK All, L’Inizio Sport or even Sanborns’ cologne. Seconds later, you notice the bamboo and a mix of very fresh green grass. It’s linear, with almost no nuance; what you smell in the first 10 minutes is what lasts, and the longevity is almost ephemeral: 2 hours on skin and about 3 on clothes. The projection is adequate for the first half-hour, then drops to about 30 centimetres while it lasts. The good thing is that it’s very economical, which gives it value for everyday use. In my opinion, the lack of a solid woody base detracts from its performance, but for the price, it’s worth it. Recommended sprays: ALL. Fixative: 6. Trail: Weak. Intensity: Light.

A clean and subtle fragrance, without pretensions, lasting 4 to 6 hours on my skin; ideal for warm days. The scent is linear, but the tea and bamboo are noticeable from time to time in perfect balance. I love the bottle and the price-quality ratio is excellent.

Predominantly citrus with a touch of spiced soap and black pepper that gives it a nice kick. Ideal for any day in any weather, except freezing conditions. It can be worn by anyone. The longevity is good, although the projection is medium-low.

An abstract but pleasant aroma, versatile and without pretensions: a mix of white musk with citrus, green and aquatic touches. What I notice most is a soapy body with acidic citrus brushstrokes, ideal for everyday life and work, radiating cleanliness and tidiness. On my skin it lasts moderately for about 3-4 hours with a soft trail. Good value for money. Greetings to the community.

It’s a discreet, fresh, citrusy fragrance, but lacks standout personality; it’s just average. If you’re looking for something similar from Adolfo Domínguez, go for ‘Agua Fresca Citrus Cedro’ instead—that one is actually good. It’s acceptable, though on my skin it leans slightly feminine, though it could work as unisex. Forget any resemblance to Versace Eau Fraîche; they don’t even come close. Versace has identity and is instantly recognisable; this one has no character. I wouldn’t buy it again; I’d go for the other one I mentioned.

It’s an easy-to-wear, fresh and affordable fragrance; you won’t mortgage your house to buy it. It smells of citrus and bamboo, very good for summer. The scent is exquisite and feels more expensive than it is, but its only flaw is that it lasts very little; after just one or two hours, you can’t detect it unless right up against the skin. The bottle is pretty, with a blue gradient glass, but the engineers at Adolfo Domínguez couldn’t design a worse cap; it’s difficult to open and close (“they’re geniuses”). I recommend leaving it with just the cap overlaid. It’s an original fragrance; if it could be recreated with greater longevity and a magnetic cap, it would probably be a bestseller. I recommend it 6.5/10.

To be honest, I didn’t expect much from this ‘cheap’ fragrance at €16 for 60ml, but it has become one of my favourites among fresh and green scents. That fresh bamboo smell mixed with citrus and tea is lovely. The pity is that on my skin it lasts nothing, not even with over-application. I use it for occasional short outings; I know there won’t be any trace after two hours, so I reapply afterwards. Very easy to wear, not annoying, and smells better than A.D.’s ‘Bambú’ dry down.

I really like it. Smells fresh yet elegant, classy, and nothing like those fresh waters. I love its opening, but even more its dry down, where it truly shows what it’s made of. I’d buy it again while it’s still available.

A luminous, transparent water with a citrus and bitter, green, and spicy note from four key ingredients. It doesn’t smell cheap at all; in fact, it smells like a product from a higher-end line. It has a certain refinement and a sparkling tone thanks to the mate, which is very nice. Highly recommended. I tried it without prejudice and was surprised by how well-made it is.
