I was eagerly anticipating this fragrance and do not believe it to be merely another flanker. In my opinion, both Air and Sun should be kept separate from Acqua di Gioia. For me, it is an excellent scent for immersing oneself in summer and has prompted me to set Acqua di Gioia aside, although I can always alternate between them. Its opening is strong and ozonic—a refreshing burst of sea breeze with a hint of salt. It is not at all sweet; Acqua is citrusy and mentholated. In the heart notes, it draws closer to Acqua di Gioia, with Air presenting itself as a cheerful floral of peony and white flowers. Jasmine, orange blossom, and neroli compose this symphony. As a base, this floral is grounded by cypress and oakmoss, giving it a pronounced balsamic character, while patchouli adds depth, longevity, and elegance. Towards the end, I detect a slight soapy touch that lends a soft, clean finish. It is an aroma that breaks away from the citrus scents of summer. Totally unisex due to its base, it reminds me somewhat of Paradiso by Roberto Cavalli. Suitable for spring and summer days, even into autumn. If Acqua di Gioia is beachy and informal, Air is configured as more versatile, stepping onto land to become a fragrance suitable for professional and semi-formal settings. Its trail and longevity are moderate, lasting around five to six hours. The bottle is identical to that of Acqua di Gioia, save for the liquid, which has a beautiful sky-blue hue, perfectly matching its scent. Where I disagree is with its name: for me, Air is not a gentle sea breeze; it is a swell. Red flag. As a child, when we arrived at the beach, our mother would say: ‘There’s a red flag up, don’t go too deep or the current will drag you out; stay on the shore’. Haha. A fun day with big waves, waiting for the sea to calm so we could enter, and as always, the biggest wave would swallow us. My game wasn’t swimming; it was diving, spending more time at the bottom than on the surface. A proper rollick. On one side me, and on the other the top part of my bikini; at eight years old, there was nothing to teach. Hair standing on end, full of salt and sand, half a kilo settled in my knickers. White salt stinging the skin. And arriving home, the same refrain: ‘What have you done to bring all this beach sand with you? Shake yourselves in the street, otherwise you won’t get in’. Skin red and scratched as a result of the struggle, but with a grin from ear to ear thinking: tomorrow more, on for the rematch. This is what this fragrance smells like. To a swell. A summer storm. Sky filled with gulls. Waves breaking over the rocks. And I love it. Now that we are at 40 degrees and hardly a leaf moves, with dead calm and stifling heat, each morning when I wear it, I enjoy my personal red flag, an easterly wind, refreshing, full of vigour and energy. It has come to my wardrobe to stay, and I hope it is not just another of the waters of this summer.

I’ve just tried it and so far it’s nothing for me. Too strong, with very prominent floral notes. What I perceive most is the jasmine. If it were for summer, I wouldn’t choose it; I expected something softer and woodier, but I only smell flowers and greens. As another review says, it smells very much like the nineties, those potent perfumes like Eternity or the early Carolina Herreras. Definitely not my style.
Just tried it and so far it’s not at all my style; it’s far too strong with very floral notes. What I detect most is jasmine. If it were a summer option, it wouldn’t be my choice. I expected something softer and woody, but I only smell flowers and greenery. As another review says, it feels very nineties to me, like those intense scents such as Eternity or the early Carolina Herrera classics like the original or Flore. Definitely not my style.
I liked it much more than Acqua di Gioia and it lasts longer on the skin; very pleasant for summer, with a clean feeling.
After trying a sample, I still stick with Acqua di Gio Profumo. On my skin, the salt and neroli notes are too prominent, making it a very strong fragrance for my taste, though it suits both men and women. The longevity is excellent, just like its predecessor, and the trail is even more noticeable.
I tried a sample and I still definitely stick with Acqua di Gio. On my skin, the salt and neroli are too noticeable; it’s too strong for my taste, somewhat unisex. The longevity is excellent, just like its predecessor, and the sillage is greater.
In a quick test, it reminded me somewhat of Montana’s Parfum de Peau… I’ll update when I can try it again.
Good longevity and durability; the scent is floral (I can smell the orange blossom quite a bit), salty and fresh. It reminds me a little of CK’s Reveal.
Truly fresh, ideal for summer. On the skin with the sun, it becomes much more noticeable. The longevity and sillage are outstanding; a single application lasts me all day.
Fresh scent, very summery. Works brilliantly on the skin when the sun hits it. It has incredible longevity and sillage; a single application lasts all day.
Definitely, salt is not my thing.
Definitely, sea salt is not for me.
With sea salt and cypress on the nose, I trusted it 100% and decided to give it a try, putting aside my prejudices against Armani. Aesthetically, the bottle and name evoke the lightness and steadiness of air, giving this flanker of Gioia a simple touch. It’s pretty, but the trail fades quickly. It didn’t clash with the peony, but it did turn me off, despite the salty cypress being there. It smells like a very contrived idyll, everything correct and in its place, yet with too much pose for something as volatile as air; I expected something more oxygenated and ethereal (something Eternity Air Men actually achieves, though this one also has some fabric, or rather, lacks it). No, it’s another moulded release. Practically, it’s not worth the price, at least here in Argentina. Nice scent, but plays in the same league as Akiabara’s Black Neroli or Del Pozo’s Essence of Gnome. Don’t get me wrong, Mrs Gioia.
I love it for these summer days. It’s clean, fresh and has personality; it’s not just any ordinary fresh citrus. I bought it blind and initially thought I wouldn’t like it, but I gave it another chance and loved it. I’d like to have it always. The salt is well-dosed, then the flowers and that sense of cleanliness. Highly recommended, good sillage and longevity; it’s brought me many compliments.
I love it for these summer days; it’s a clean, fresh fragrance with personality. It doesn’t seem like one of the ordinary fresh citrus scents. I must say I bought it blindly and at first I thought it wasn’t for me, but I gave it another chance and fell in love. I’d like to have it always in my collection. The salt it contains is well-measured, followed by flowers and a clean sensation. Really recommended, good trail and longevity, and it’s brought me many compliments.
I like its opening very much; it’s fresh, very floral and imposing. I don’t detect its salt note; it’s light and very wearable, nothing overwhelming. The only thing is that in the dry-down on my skin it becomes very woody and my husband can’t stand it, yet I still use it. Its trail is very good and lasts all day
Armani Sky di Gioia. Primarily, I perceive the salt as predominant. Then something mossy enters. In its opening, it’s super fresh. It’s delicious. I perceive it as completely unisex; in fact, there are days I feel it’s more masculine than others. Trail: 8. Longevity: 8
An exciting and confusing fragrance. If it were a painting, it would be a Monet water lily canvas. It’s not air; it’s water. Perhaps the warm atmosphere of sunset. The salt is odourless as such, but it’s a good hook. The trail of softness and the longevity, being nothing invasive, make it appropriate for work and study, as well as evening strolls (as happens with its sister, Acqua di Gioia). It’s one of the few florals that lasts and opens up to the surroundings, expanding and resisting. Rather than identifying its flowers, what’s precious is highlighting its functionality and performance. After trying so many perfumes, I value your performance: to accompany you throughout the day and cling to a memory, an emotion, a situation. And this perfume is a 9 out of 10. Worth noting. That said, as with all sensory products, the scent is a matter of taste and your existing olfactory heritage
Upon application, the cypress in all its magnificence alongside the salt. The ylang-ylang is applied very subtly; you might think it will overwhelm, but it doesn’t. After twenty minutes, certain aromas accentuate on my skin: the peony, orange blossom and cashmere begin to emerge as they blend with the skin’s temperature. A masterpiece. Exquisite; who is the perfumer?
I love it! It’s my favourite perfume of a lifetime. What a shame it’s discontinued. It smells of the sea; the salt is noticeable throughout its development, smelling of flowers yet also woody, very complex. I’d define it as fine and elegant, a well-crafted scent that I sadly can’t find in other perfumes. It’s not the typical sweet and mass-market option. I think it’s a perfume you either love or hate; it’s intense. It has excellent trail and longevity; wherever you go, people notice. I wear it in the morning and still feel it hours later, which doesn’t happen with others. I have less than half of the large bottle left and I’m sad to use it because it’s unavailable. I don’t know if it has a special season, as it’s intense yet fresh, although it’s not quite like Acqua di Gioia, which is more of a summer scent. If they bring it back into production, I’ll be the happiest person in the world
I adore it! It’s my perfume of a lifetime. What a pity they’ve taken it out of the catalogue. It smells of the sea, you can detect the salt, with flowers and wood; very complex, refined and elegant. It’s not that sweet, mass-market scent that everyone likes; I think you either love it or find it repulsive, it’s intense. The sillage and longevity are incredible, noticeable from miles away. I wear it in the morning and can still smell it hours later, which doesn’t happen with others. I have less than half the bottle left and it hurts to use it because it’s no longer available. I don’t know if it’s seasonal; it’s intense yet fresh, though not as much as Acqua di Gio. If they bring it back, I’d be the happiest person in the world.
I fell in love with this discontinued scent at an airport and luckily managed to get it afterwards. You can detect the salt, but it doesn’t smell like a typical marine perfume. Then a beautiful, delicate peony emerges with the cypress, and hours later, as it dries, you notice the woody notes. I love it; it’s super comfortable and versatile, perfect for everyday wear.
I fell in love with this discontinued scent at an airport and luckily managed to get it afterwards. The salt is perfectly noticeable, yet it doesn’t smell like a marine fragrance; then comes a very pretty and delicate peony alongside cypress. Hours later, in the dry-down, I detect woody notes. I like it immensely; it’s very comfortable and versatile, ideal for everyday wear
The only salt perfume that ever won me over! I’ve just finished my 100ml bottle and I’m absolutely heartbroken because they no longer manufacture it. What a pity. Of the entire Armani collection, ‘Air’ was my absolute favourite. It’s floral, salty, fresh and sparkling with an exquisite woody base. On my skin, the neroli, peonies and salt really shine. The longevity is outstanding (more than eight hours on skin), with immense trail and projection. I love how this scent embraces and accompanies you hour after hour. I’ll miss you so much, Air di Gioia 💔
What a tragedy they’ve taken it off the market. I bought it five times and it was gorgeous; I’ll miss it so much. I still haven’t found anything that compares. It’s terrible when my favourites always disappear 🙁
Does anyone know anything similar to this gem? What a shame it’s nowhere to be found; I’m dying to use it again 😭😭😭
