One of the best fresh scents I’ve ever smelled; smells great for summer. It opens with a strong but pleasant ginger, nothing synthetic. Then comes a soft curtain of iris, nothing like Dior Homme where it’s the protagonist; here it just adds elegance. At the end, it smells of fresh green herbs, very intense but not annoying. The best part: it lasts 10 hours and I think it persists even after a shower. Great for guys and summer, but also works for a mild day due to its fixative qualities. Elegant aroma but leaning towards sport, ideal for a weekend by the bay in white clothes and a good drink. Highly recommended.
The lemon in this fragrance is one of the best I’ve tried; very natural and non-intrusive, combined perfectly with refreshing ginger. Then the iris appears secondarily, much less than in the 2006 or Intense versions, without annoying or that ‘lipstick’ aftertaste some don’t like. In just the right measure, it helps that, despite being ‘Sport’, it remains as elegant as Dior. The dry down stabilises with cedar and green notes, although the ginger and lemon remain softened after 7 hours. It’s youthful, with informal elegance, for warm seasons and daytime use. Good longevity and moderate to heavy trail, especially in the first few hours with the lemon and ginger.
My dear Dior Homme Sport, I fell in love with it the moment I heard it. It’s the one that has won me the most compliments, far more than others like One Million Intense or Polo Blue. It was one of my first and introduced me to the world of perfumes. Perhaps every man has his favourite, but for me, this is the one I’ll never be without: it’s different, striking, long-lasting, and very versatile. It works for work or night, in cold or heat, you just need to know the dose. Fantastic!
Lemon and ginger, smells super fresh, like a salad dressing. It’s the first Dior I like, I have to admit. The iris is barely noticeable (great, because I hate it!).
Just bought it! I’m obsessed with the cider scent with an almost imperceptible but present iris. It lasts around 7-10 hours. Although it’s a bit heavy for having ‘Sport’ in the name, it’s one of the best versions I’ve tried. Perfect for spring, summer, and autumn if you like the lotion notes. It’s the third Dior Homme that has captivated me, and I recommend it hugely.
Top fragrance for day or night, with incredible trail and longevity. Highly recommend!
I love how it blends citrus with ginger; it’s super casual yet elegant, perfect for the office or a stroll. I just find it a bit youthful and delicate, more suitable for those over 18 than for someone more mature.
Dior Homme Sport 2012 has a very lemony opening (although the notes don’t say so). As I’m not a fan of lemon, for me the opening is sharp, overwhelming, aggressive, and bright, like a scorching summer sun. Probably the ginger potentiates that effect. Fortunately, the evolution is virtuous: on my skin, which tends to sweeten, the dry down is fine, cosy, slightly sweet but always fresh and even sensual for a sport. It’s interesting but nothing overwhelming. I’ll have to try the 2008 version, which they say is better. Trail and projection: moderate.
Wow, love and hate. At first, on the opening, I smell the ginger in a most unpleasant way; I almost hate the opening on my skin. But by an hour it becomes magical, as if it were another perfume. The delight of Dior Sport is almost intoxicating. The lemon is perfectly perceived, subtle, nothing cloying or sharp. It’s one of the best I’ve bought, very elegant and timeless; it’s used whenever one wishes. I will definitely buy it again.
Dior Homme Sport 2012 has a supremely citrus opening (although the notes don’t mention it). As I’m not a lemon fan, I must say that for me the opening is sharp, overwhelming, aggressive and bright, like an unmerciful sun of a scorching summer. Probably the ginger potentiates that effect. Fortunately, the evolution is supremely virtuous on my skin, which tends to sweeten perfumes. Thanks to the iris, the dry down offers a fine, welcoming scent, slightly sweet but always fresh and even sensual for a ‘Sport’. It’s an interesting fragrance but nothing overwhelming. I’ll have to try the 2008 version, which they say is better. Trail and projection: moderate.
It was one of the fragrances I was most excited to get. Upon trying it, I say that although the scent is pleasant, it doesn’t give me that fascination that other perfumes do. I perceived it like this: intense lemon opening, followed by a light ginger. Gradually the iris appears, adding a pleasant sweetness, nothing cloying, subtle and elegant. Although it’s a ‘Sport’, I don’t feel it as ‘Sport’ and it has a very pleasant degree of elegance. Finally, the cedar is more intense than the green notes, leaving a perfect scent. The trail was moderate for about 6 hours. It’s versatile: suitable for the gym, the office or informal outings, being more apt for the day. I insist: it’s very good, but it didn’t surprise me or drive me wild. If I can’t find something better, I would buy it, and I recommend it.
My favourite lotion of this type, alongside Allure Eau Extreme, Dior Homme Cologne and Versace Pour Homme. It’s my personal scent. Since I smelled it on the bus, I loved it; the wind carried each stage thanks to its good projection. It smells rich, sophisticated and made me imagine driving a luxury car. I fell in love and bought it. It lasts about 6 or 7 hours; from the fourth hour it clings more to the skin and feels natural. It has good projection for the first three hours and a normal trail. I don’t use it in intense heat because it vibrates a bit dark due to the iris (unlike Voyage). I use it in evenings for going out with friends or dinner. I get many compliments, it’s uncommon where I live and gives originality.
I’ve always had a dislike for Dior, but today I was pleasantly surprised by this. At first it was very strong, but by an hour it had settled and is still there. I don’t see it as a ‘Sport’ fragrance, but as something exquisite.
It’s elegant and fresh, smelling of natural ingredients, nothing synthetic. The scents blend into a complex yet simple fragrance; the lemon smells natural and doesn’t irritate. It’s neither soft nor heavy, with good longevity even in heat. It’s not a true ‘Sport’ fragrance: it starts citrusy and fresh, but soon turns into something elegant and with personality. Ideal for a sunny afternoon; when the sun goes down, it has that special touch to finish the day.
It’s a citrus bomb; it’s called ‘Sport’ because it’s informal and versatile, but NEVER for the gym. The quality of the lemon is sublime, it seems freshly cut from the plant, and it’s completed by a refreshing ginger. In the base, the cedar is very far back and the iris, as in the whole family, is almost imperceptible. I find it elegant, adult, addictive and of extremely high quality. It has good longevity and projection.
I bought this yesterday and am still disappointed. The fragrance itself is good, elegant and fresh, but for the price (around $165) I expected more. I tried Jaipur, Boucheron For Men and Black XS before deciding on this Dior. Jaipur wasn’t available, the Boucheron is very formal, and while I liked the Black XS, it smells childish. As it’s a Dior and I already have 150ml, I have to give it a chance.
A unique and excellent perfume where the iris recedes to let an exquisite lemon shine. I love how it smells: super fresh and elegant. It captivates you at first sniff, 100% recommended. Dior perfumes are a true delight for the olfactory senses.
La Salida can burn a bit at first and tempt you to wash it off, but give it a few seconds: the magic happens. It transforms into a natural, seductive freshness, like a zesty lemon with woody touches and green aromas. The base keeps that citrus note but becomes sweet, soft, and very enveloping.
The first few seconds are a bit confusing, but quickly you feel that rich natural lemon scent. As the dry down progresses, I subtly sense the iris mixing with the lemon, giving it a sweet touch. On my skin, it has significant longevity, which is rare. Although the projection only lasts 2 or 3 hours, afterwards it’s just skin scent.
I simply reaffirm what Angel 124 said; I totally agree. It’s an expense worth it, especially if you are a collector of quality fragrances.
DHS, I love it. As Icona Pop says, it’s one of the best ‘sport’ fragrances on the market. Although it can handle sport, it’s a pity to limit it, because it’s a worthy flanker of such an elegant line as Dior Homme. Although I don’t sense the iris, it follows the line of its siblings: elegance and distinction in the informal daytime plane. I see it with a white linen shirt, in a luxury Caribbean hotel, like a successful businessman on holiday with his yacht. Relaxed luxury. A well-executed lemon, fruity rather than citrus, of excellent quality, supported by the effervescent freshness of ginger. Both rest on green woods that give it the elegant touch. Dior Homme Sport lasts over 8 hours without issue, fades without rushing, without bothering, inviting closeness. If there’s little left in your bottle, run to get a new one, because it seems they have reformulated it. The 2017 version arrived, let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint; I set the bar very high.
I’ve tried it several times in different seasons and I don’t find it ‘sport’. The citron and ginger project heavily after 30°C, and the iris base finishes off something very formal, even aristocratic. Perhaps the sporty aspect applies in temperate regions where the ginger isn’t so noticeable. I would use it for formal situations or autumn/winter, behind Terre d’Hermes or Declaration Essence. If you’re looking for something fresh this season, it’s not an option for tropical climates.
The opening is an explosion of sweet lemon (actually citron) very natural, boosted with ginger. After a while, the citrus calms down and a soft touch of iris appears, sweetening it. There’s also a green base and finally a distant cedar. It’s very pleasant, ideal for the office. I disagree that it becomes overwhelming in hot climates; to me, it feels fresh and agreeable, although for those climates, its Cologne sibling behaves better. I admit it doesn’t fit the ‘sport’ category; it has particular elegance. I regret they reformulated it this year. It seems to be the Dior habit. They remove the iris and cedar, and I believe that subtle iris gave it an essential sweetness. What a shame.
A work of art. I remember all the emotions I felt smelling it on the blotter and on my skin; I bought it that same day. It’s the one that has earned me the most compliments. What a pity they reformulated it; the 2008 and 2012 versions were the best. The 2017 version is still exquisite, but the longevity isn’t the same; before, it lasted until the next shower. When I tried it again in 2018, it didn’t have the same intensity. Today I admit that, although it lacks that perfection, it still has incredibly delicious citrus notes. I hope they return to the original. Still, I want to own it again; it brought back memories and revived my romance with it.
Incredible creation! I wore it a few hours ago and I can smell the DNA of Dior Homme, which has much more presence in Dior Homme Intense, but here it feels more wearable and suitable for daily wear. According to the Bach Code, it’s from March 2015. It has a truly organic citrus opening, something I haven’t felt since I first smelled the original Acqua Di Gio in 1996. It makes you stop and say ‘here are real citrus notes’; they don’t feel plastic or artificial like in Kenzo L’Eau or the new reformulations of Acqua di Gio. After a while, it sits closer to the skin, with a trail only if there’s a breeze. The first hour is dominated by an energetic citrus opening, followed by the iris in the third hour. I tested it at 30°C and it held up very well. It’s not invasive, elegant, fresh, and versatile. Today, alongside Versace Pour Homme, these are my favourites for intense heat.
To me, it smells of wood, lemony freshness, and a spicy touch. I detect the woody note right from the start. Lasts 6 hours on skin and 10 on clothes. It suits daytime wear best in temperate or warm weather; it’s not bad at night, and it holds its own in cooler conditions. Projection is moderate. I don’t see it as ‘sport’; I see it as elegant and mature.
An excellent summer fragrance. It smells citrusy, green, and woody. It is long-lasting, and so is its trail. Very good performance for an EDT. A pity they reformulated it.
A subtle and elegant delight. While some might call it ‘sport’, I find it incredibly versatile and easy to wear. It exudes status and class, thanks to that iris note. It opens with a rich, natural citrus followed by a sharp ginger that fades to reveal the soft iris. It’s one of my favourites; I took a while to appreciate it, but it truly won me over. On me, it’s very subtle and unobtrusive, so soft that it invites people to come closer and enjoy your scent.
This is a marvel. A complex citrus that doesn’t smell like millions of other fragrances and immediately brings out the spicy ginger, leaving a very subtle wood in the background without losing freshness. But oh, now I can say what I’ve read about so many fragrances and in most cases attribute to distortions between reality and olfactory memories. Here, the reformulation has truly done its damage and ended this work of art, leaving only a great cologne like there are many; I went to buy it again and the disappointment was huge. It has lost that exuberance of nuances, nuances I can’t distinguish but know were there, and now they are gone.
I tried it today and the opening reminded me immediately of an L’bel perfume called I.D. I’ve had for a long time… but only that aromatic citrus opening. Once it settles, the iris comes out to add a classic, serious touch… but it’s not an iris that stands out, like Prada’s… I think this iris detracts a bit from the ‘Sport’ title. How it smells, it’s a perfect candidate for the ideal office perfume: it smells clean, energetic, not annoying or loud. You have to over-apply to expect decent performance.
This 2012 version is a gem; this fragrance sparked my desire to explore more scents, it was love at first sniff. I still remember passing the Liverpool store and being given a sample in 2014; I loved it, kept smelling it at home, and the next day I went to buy it. I currently have some 30ml bottles left and I treasure them, because the current version from 2017 onwards is not the same. I use it for very special occasions, a fresh fragrance with personality, I don’t feel it is truly sporty, more semi-formal; it is a delight. If you have the opportunity to find it, don’t hesitate and get it, you won’t regret it. PS: OPINION, EXPERIENCE, AND TASTE ARE VERY PERSONAL.
The lamentable performance of this opaque fragrance, in my opinion, obscures the magnificence of its scent. It smells of seriousness. ‘Citrus seriousness’. ‘A complex citrus’, ‘an exuberance of nuances’ as user ‘Zappp’ brilliantly noted below. This perfume is, in my view, the explanation and summary of the concept ‘Elegant Sport’. ‘Elegant sport’, at least here in Argentina, referred to dress codes for entry into venues, meaning ‘neither too formal nor too informal’. I also recall it was one of those fragrances that looked much more luxurious in the box or on the tester than when applied to skin. Undoubtedly, in my judgement, the best version of DHS, as DHS2008 and DHS2017 seemed flatter to me. Everything noted above is absolute exaggeration.
A fragrance that transports me to the warm summers of Sicily, Italy. Citrusy, more tangerine than lemon. Poor projection and longevity, though a great compliment getter. Dior elegance.
What an incredible heartbreak to fall in love with a perfume and never be able to have it again; Dior has broken my heart 😢.
Quick review: Elixir Nocturne (regardless of the season). Excellent longevity and sillage, projects very well. Detailed review: Opening notes are dense citrus (not fresh), slightly ambered; the iris appears quickly. After 30 minutes, what remains is a quasi-sweet, dry scent, yet not strictly formal. After 3-4 hours, with magnificent longevity, the slight body heat lifts that elegant, correct woody base; the trail is contained but noticeable. By the 8-hour mark, it resists on the skin with great dignity (a hot shower magically revives it). In my opinion, there’s very little ‘Sport’ about it. While some may see this as negative, the truth is it is far more complex and sophisticated (speaking of a 2013 batch). I hope it gets reissued with that original formulation. A gem for any Dior collection.
I haven’t found anything like it since. Reformulations that strip the soul from a fragrance shouldn’t keep the same name.
The best version of Dior Homme Sport of all time. Totally elegant thanks to that iris, fresh and refreshing without losing Dior’s class and quality. I adore it. Unfortunately discontinued and reformulated; if you have the chance to get it, don’t hesitate and buy it. Once again, Mr Demachy, my respects.
This was the perfume that sparked my true passion for fragrances back in 2014. Love at first sight: I was wearing a suit, it was spring in Argentina, and I’ll never forget my reaction to that effervescent citrus with ginger and a touch of sweet iris, all tied together by the cedar base. The citrus notes were explosive; longevity was exceptional, projection moderate to high for the first hour and a half, then it settled but lingered beautifully on the skin, becoming creamier thanks to the iris. Eight hours without issue. For me, within the Sport range, this was the only one that mattered; it was THE CITRUS ELEGANT by excellence. I hope Dior returns to its roots and releases the best Dior Homme Sport of all again.
