Invictus Platinum by Rabanne

Absinthe, pure absinthe. I’m a fan, defying the prediction that an evolved nose would stop appreciating the original and its flankers. After the ‘Victory’ releases that didn’t suit me, I regained faith in the brand with Platinum, but it disappointed. It doesn’t smell like the original DNA, which isn’t bad, but its aroma certainly is. If you introduce notes like absinthe from the start, there’s no evolution, and that’s what happens here. During its short life, it feels constantly tinged with an unpleasant camphor note. The base is overly green, with mint and a trite patchouli. In short, it smells like a shot of absinthe with mint and nothing else. It’s slightly sweet and fresh, perhaps the only thing it shares with its father, but very little of either. I don’t see it for summer or winter, nor formal or playful for parties. I don’t understand how people say everyone loves it. DO NOT BUY BLINDLY. Performance doesn’t match Rabanne: on my skin it lasts a maximum of 8 hours, but from the second hour onwards, you only notice it if someone comes close. Sillage and projection are moderate, lasting a maximum of an hour. In conclusion, it smells of absinthe, mint, and little more. Performance is barely acceptable, and I wouldn’t talk about compliments. Total surprise I won’t forget. I bought it blindly due to the ridiculous price and recommendations. The opening is sublime: sweet, fruity, and mentholated, very refreshing. It’s not innovative, but it’s well-made and doesn’t bother anyone. It doesn’t evolve much; it stays on that toned-down sweetness with a woody touch that doesn’t overpower the greenery of the Platinum, so don’t expect the cedar and patchouli to shine. Performance: with 6-8 sprays it lasts about 8 hours. Moderate projection for the first 4 hours, then just a personal bubble until it fades. You’ll receive compliments, but it won’t revolutionise noses. I recommend it as a signature because you don’t offend anyone and you feel good. Not for parties with lots of people because cheaper perfumes will overpower it. 7.5/10.

I bought this for the notes, hoping the mint would stand out, for my husband. In the end, it’s a light Invictus flanker with a sweet and fresh charge, but it doesn’t highlight the mint as I expected; instead, it features cypress, grapefruit, and lavender. I was enchanted by the scent on my skin, but he found it too sweet and preferred not to wear it again, which breaks my heart. Furthermore, the projection lasted over 8 hours after application and remained close to the skin for more than a day. If you like sweet men’s fragrances without being overpowering, this is your option. Although Invictus isn’t the peak for me, I appreciate that this flanker carries part of its DNA and that sugary touch that even I would wear.

This perfume offers something different, it’s not disruptive or anything of the world. In fact, its opening is sweet and citrusy like a yellow grapefruit with sugar and mint, somewhat soapy with a touch of grape at the bottom (perhaps it’s the lavender). The citrus goes very quickly and the cypress takes strength, very identifiable although richer than in nature, mentholated and soapy. This cypress gives it something I don’t usually smell in trend perfumes. I like it a lot, it’s for daily use, for the office without being very formal. I give it a 7.5.

Totally informal fragrance, suitable for the day but I see it as fresh for going out at night, dancing or clubbing in a white shirt. Decent trail and low longevity, a maximum of about 4 hours. It’s one of the few times the Arabic version (Armaf Odyssey Aqua) beats the original. Smells of soft fruity mango with a sticky green base that gives freshness thanks to the mint. I recommend it for blind buys or as a gift only for someone young, under 35. Rating: 8.4/10.

Brilliant fragrance! It opens with mint, grapefruit and absinthe, giving it freshness and a slightly boozy touch, before evolving into a minty, sweet scent with exquisite lavender that invites you closer. It smells different from the generic ones. Lasts 8+ hours and on clothes for weeks. Projection is normal within your bubble. Versatile for everyday wear, school or the office: it doesn’t bother but you notice it. Highly recommended.

For now. I’ve worn it for a few days and it reminds me greatly of an 80s or 90s deodorant, like the ‘Uomo Internazionale’ from a catalogue… I don’t like it at all. EDIT: After using it for months, it presents a green and dry opening, a sweet heart, and a somewhat synthetic vibe, yet it projects energy. The base also follows suit.

Total freshness for the office; it was my faithful companion until it ran out. Potent upon first spray, long-lasting yet not overpowering, the absinthe note doesn’t smell of alcohol. Ideal for a blind buy if you’re looking for something good for work or university in the heat, though it doesn’t bring anything new to the market.

I absolutely love it! I might use it as my signature scent. My pH is strong, and few fragrances last on me, but this exceeded my expectations. Fresh aroma, minty, with a touch of sweetness from the patchouli. Versatile for any occasion, though perhaps more suitable for someone over 20. A very good option for the office.

Let me down; neither fresh nor elegant. The first two minutes are fine, but after five minutes it becomes heavy and gives me a headache. I wanted a different Invictus after using the regular Hawas, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I regret spending 80,000 pesos blindly based on reviews.

I’ve had it for 3 months and only used it 5 or 6 days. It’s not that I don’t like it, but I don’t see the ‘fresh’ description. To me it’s artificial and projects too much with just 2 sprays. To repeat, it’s not bad, it’s a matter of taste, but it hasn’t convinced me.

Fresh, slightly green, mentholated, marine with a hint of salt. It also has a sweet, sexy touch that could earn you compliments. This Invictus Platinum is the ultimate versatile scent: day-to-day, dates, friends, gym—it never fails. 100% recommended.

I tried it with hope, but it just doesn’t work for me. The opening was pleasant, but once dried, it smells like soap, akin to shaving foam, and gives me a headache. It’s not excessively fresh or formal, yet it suits daily office wear.

Fresh and sweet aroma, super fruity. It’s very noticeable, almost like a mangonada, which is what they call it in Mexico. It works all year round and is my signature scent. Lasts 7 or 8 hours with good projection.

Exquisite aroma, sweet without reaching cloying. If you like mint, it’s for you, because at first opening it goes with the grapefruit. For a date, you make it perfect or for parties.
