Wet, fresh, grassy and elegant: this is what Moss + by Commodity Fragrances is all about. It’s getting harder and harder to find something that smells different in the niche world; on every trip and trade fair I encounter the same thing: almost everything smells the same and the prices, even for emerging brands, are absolutely bonkers. Everyone wants to get rich quick, but that’s not the case with Commodity. It’s an American house that, as far as I know, went bankrupt years ago only to rise again with a new aesthetic, distinct fragrances and growing hype across North America. Moss + is one of my favourites: herbal and icy, with moss and juniper berries taking centre stage, creating something versatile, masculine and easy to wear. Although it has a certain fougère vibe, I think it’s a modern scent that fits what we’re looking for today: smelling different, current, energetic and distinctive. I tried it at Scentxplore 2025 in New York and I believe it was one of the best proposals I could have tested; its retail price is more than reasonable. Highly recommended!
Definitely this (+) version smells very masculine, in my opinion. It’s rich, woody and has a wet earth note at the base. It’s raining here and I feel it’s perfect for this weather, but I would definitely prefer to smell it on my partner or my father rather than on a woman. On the other hand, the more personal (-) version is fresher and unisex, keeping that forest walk-through-mist vibe. It lasted about 3-4 hours on my skin. The initial spray was strong and dry, but after 2 or 3 hours it became fresher and muskier. I won’t wear it myself, but it’s a good gift for a man between 40 and 60 years old.
